Just 10,000 years ago, a glacier a mile thick covered Buffalo, NY. Anyone who's ever been to Central Park (the one in Manhattan) has seen those strange looking rocky outcrops scattered all around. Scientists say that those outcrops are proof that at one time New York City was enveloped by a very deep glacier.

A scraped rock (roche moutonee)--- there are hundreds of them in Central Park. These are all scraped, gouged, abraded in the same direction, the direction of a massively heavy ice flow.
