Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer (N.J.) said Monday that a letter announcing his resignation that appeared to be from him is completely untrue, NorthJersey.com reports.
"This disgusting smear campaign is a violation of federal law and is being criminally investigated by the U.S. Capitol Police," he said. "I am confident that they will quickly identify and pursue charges against the perpetrators responsible for this crime."
The letter, dated July 29, appears to be on official congressional letterhead and falsely claims that Gottheimer had a sexual relationship with one of his staffers, the outlet reports. Its unclear how many officials received it.
The signature on the letter reportedly doesnt match those on Gottheimers previous letters released by his office.
It follows another letter sent in the past week that claimed to be from one of his staff members.

New idea? Be sure it is legal!
Can he prove he didn’t have sexual relations with a staff member? That is the standard they apply to Trump.
He needs to stay resigned because his innocence is not conclusively determined.
Show us her picture and we will tell you "guilty" or "not guilty".
Nice troll of an elected official. Nice but illegal.
Indeed. It's a proven method, better than a lie-detector that FR endorses. Plus it's as valid as anything else the donkeys use. /s

His wife probably did it as she wants a divorce.
So?....so he's a sucker for girls with big noses.
Don't forget he's a Democrat.
Show us his/her/its picture and...
BOL......
Chancellor McHenry learned of this when parents of students began calling to congratulate him.
He has not been exonerated of the charges...
