The Brits sealed the fate of Hong Kong at the end of the nineteenth century. It is a Chinese matter and there’s no good reason for the USA to have any involvement in protests there.
You couldn’t be more wrong. It’s ALWAYS a good idea for the US government to speak in favor of liberty and individual freedom, anywhere and everywhere around the globe.
“... end of the nineteenth century ....”
End of the 20th Century!
19th century ended 11:59:59 Dec 31 1899.
Hong Kong consists of three separate areas, historically:
- Hong Kong Island, the smallest of the three which China originally ceded to Great Britain in perpetuity in settlement of Britain defeating China in the first Opium War (ensuring Brits could continue pushing opium at a great profit to the Chinese addicts - at a time when such drug sales kruse in the UK was a capital offense)
- Kowloon is the next territory which was under a 99 year lease that ended June 30, 1997
- New Territitories which is north of Kowloon and borders mainland China, and which was also under lease ending in 1997. China would never have renewed those leases, and an isolated Hong Kong Island would have been a disaster on its own, and the immediate conversion of Kowloon and New Territories would have been a disaster for all. Margaret Thatcher took the best deal she could get for the people of Hong Kong, with a 50 year deal with China.

There are a number of “Freepers” who keep writing the same thing as this faker - almost word for word.
