You have one?

How heavy is it?

Poor kids struggle enough with an ordinary backpack loaded with books. I can’t imagine little Monica jumping on the school bus with 35 lbs of books and plating on her back.

It's pretty heavy with all of my work items in it. I keep in it the laptop... a myriad of cables, laptop power supply, external 8TB hard disk, which also has a small power supply...small 5 port Ethernet switch, which also has a small power supply...a few handtools - screwdriver, & multi-tool.

Granted, I'm not a child so I also keep three 50 round boxes of 9mm ammo in one of the pockets. Before I started carrying the external hard disk, it wasn't heavy enough to set off the set belt alarm in the passenger seat of my vehicle... where it sits on my way to work.

Before I stuffed everything into it, I don't think it was much heaver than the assault pack... maybe a few more ounces. But then again, it's a slightly larger pack and has compartments. I've got the spec sheet on it (still in the bag) if you'd like for me to have a peek at it. Just let me know. :-)

I really like the bag. I just don't think it's going to be as rugged as the issued pack I was using. That thing just seems INDESTRUCTIBLE... but it's basic, and definitely not made for a laptop. This new bag is already showing some wear. There's a wire cable connected via grommets up on top as a main carrying handle. Around this cable is a plastic sheath, which I think is for distributing weight in your hand. That plastic sheath is starting to split at the ends. NOT a big deal, but not what I expected either. Aside from that, the side pocket zippers open UPWARD only, so if you're not careful, they'll work themselves open and whatever is in the pockets will fall out. But I DO like the bag. :-)

I have a work bag with an insert ( I work in ER and the hospital went “patient friendly” so NO locked doors or security). Ditto one as a backpack insert since I travel overseas a lot. Very light weight. Will only stop a pistol round but it’s better than nothing.
