In the aftermath of two horrific shootings over the weekend, Vox is quite comfortable calling for what the anti-gun left has wanted in this country since the late 1960’s — full-on gun confiscation.
But let’s be clear about precisely what kind of decision is letting events like this recur, most recently in Dayton and El Paso. Congress’s decision not to pass background checks is not what’s keeping the US from European gun violence levels. The expiration of the assault weapons ban is not behind the gap. What’s behind the gap, plenty of research indicates, is that Americans have more guns. The statistics are mind-blowing: America has 4.4 percent of the world’s population but almost half of its civilian-owned guns.

I hate to say it, but...
My preference is to have a few shooting deaths per year, even if some of them are multiple shootings per incident...
that to have a government which can become tyrannical/dictatorial with the population unarmed with no recourse.
That is what the democrats/liberals/socialists/communists wish for. A population that is helpless against a totalitarian government that has full control over the people.
That is the end result of working with Democrats. Any interact ion you have with a Democrat, you ultimately lose.

Well, they tried banning here, and it just blew up the black market. You can go almost anywhere on the south side and pick up a gun with your drugs, at a far lower price than any legal FFL dealer.
If they tried to confiscate, PD would either go on strike or wind up dead, because the gangs will absolutely NOT give up their guns without a huge firefight. The innocent civilian casualties would be numerous.

That still leaves knives, baseball bats, ice picks, rope, hammers, hatchets, plastic bags, bodies of water, automobiles, and toxic mushrooms. But no problem. We know it is the evil of the gun and not that in the murderer’s heart which leads to mayhem and death.
Confiscation IS violence and those that call for it damn well know more people will die from that than these latest random acts.
They throw out useless suggestions with no way to implement them. Look how NZ tried and what the government got in return.
