I had the GSA in mind when mentioning the Country’s youth. Good you pulled your daughter out.

>> The Left destroys EVERYTHING it touches

Yup. And I’m not seeing a pleasant outcome.

My family bailed on on the Boy Scouts a couple of years ago after they bailed on our sons’ futures.
Let homosexuals and girls join? Fine, but do it without us.
I’m glad they changed their name to Scouts BSA. Makes it clear to everyone what they no longer are.

I believe there is a deeper problem here. I have nothing against an organization like the Boy Scouts, but I always felt there was something unusual about parents putting their kids under the supervision of other adults — often complete strangers — in situations like that.

When I was a kid my parents wouldn’t even allow us to go on overnight class trips for school ... and those were pretty tightly controlled.

The Girl Scouts were even worse; their silence while the Boy Scouts fought the gay scoutmaster battle spoke volumes. If I’d had a daughter involved in Girl Scouts, I’d make sure she hadn’t been molested by a female scoutmaster/counselor.

The left lives to destroy anything morally good.

Does anyone even remember that YMCA means Young Men’s Christian Association?

Now men may not be men, and no one may be Christian, according to them.

Another once-great American institution destroyed by the left.

“...Truly sad situation for BSA. The Left destroyed it.....”
Yep. They caved and this is the end result.
Liberalism destroys every single thing it touches......EVERYTHING.
Now, it’s set out to destroy the entire country....including the People, which is it’s final goal. It should not have a voice or quarter in our country...but stupid people do stupid things.

I was an Eagle Scout back in the day and I knew all of the adults involved in our scout organizations. Of course, it was easier for me since my mother was our den mother in Cub Scouts and my Dad was Scoutmaster. However, we were a neighborhood organization and many of the parents participated.

There are always some parents who use it as free babysitting, but I know any behavior on the part of adults that was even remotely suspicious was dealt with quickly.

That is certainly not what the Bishops said.

I hate to be put in a position of defending or even interpreting mealy-mouthed Bishops, but they never said anything like that.

BTW distinguishing between pedophilia (sexual abuse of pre-puberty children) and other kids of vile sodomistic exploitation (e.g. sexual abuse of post-puberty boys) is not a "defense" of the latter.

I agree with GOP_Party_Animal. What the "Jay Report" disclosed, analyzed, and concluded is dreadfully disturbing from the point of view of sexual sickness, sin, and crime --- dreadful reading, although it's necessary to get it all out into the open. But I don't think anybody "flaunts" this report as if it "cleansed" anything.

Look, as far as Catholic teaching is concerned, it is gravely wrong (a serious sin) for anybody --- man or woman, adult or minor, "gay" or "straight," clergy or laity, anybody --- to have sexual relations in any way with anybody, except for natural fertile union as God intended it, with their God-blessed lawfully married spouse.

Any violation of the Moral Law is deeply corrupting, and criminally indictable stuff is just the tip of the iceberg.

To address an institutional crisis it makes perfect sense to commission a study as to the nature and scope of of the crisis. The John Jay report made it plain that the problem was homosexuality, not pederasty, and that's most of us would have assumed. What the report did not say was that the Church is okay with clergy engaging in sex with boys so long as they had been confirmed. That outrageous claim is a fabrication of your bigotry, as you were unable to clip such a proclamation from the report (you just sent me a link to the whole report).

Knowing that Free Republic is loaded with Papists such as me, people who agree with you on about 95% of the issues of the day, perhaps you'll reconsider your unsubstantiated fantasies about our Church.

I was in the BSA in the 50’s. We were led at that time by several WW2 vets. They were tough on us discipline-wise, but it paid off on those weekend camping trips where we had to hike in with everything on our backs. Real shame that the feminists and pedos have killed such a character-building organization. The country needs the BSA now more than ever.

If it happened 50 years ago and you didn’t collect hard evidence (DNA samples)...shut up!

One of the best known equestrians - 81 year old George Morris - has been given a lifetime ban from the sport he’s been in for 70+ years based on a private organization’s private investigation into accusations from 50 years ago:

“In a statement reported by The New York Times, U.S. Equestrian spokeswoman Sonja Keating, said, “The Center investigated the allegations against Morris, found them credible, issued their ruling, and banned Morris for life.”

Morris has filed an appeal to the ban and, in a bulk email, denied the allegations, which purportedly date back four decades:

“I am deeply troubled by the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s findings regarding unsubstantiated charges for events that allegedly occurred between 1968 and 1972. I contest these findings wholeheartedly and am in the process of disputing them...”

...There is no statute of limitation on SafeSport claims, nor any public record that details the specific nature of the claims. A previous statement by the Center addressed this point:

“The Center does not have a statute of limitations, as we disagree with those who seek to invalidate abuse that occurred many years ago. To change the culture of sport, individuals must be held accountable for their behavior, regardless of how long ago it occurred. The Center recognizes just how difficult it is for victims of sexual abuse to come forward, no matter the circumstances; the trauma of abuse is bad enough, which is why the Center works so hard to protect their privacy, allowing them to speak on their own terms, when and if they so choose.”

When government schools become a target, we'll know.

Until then …

The report was commissioned ... meaning 'bought and paid' for by the US Catholic Bishops... (they knew what was going on, they had to, given the means and methods they shipped the pervert priests around here and there.) to 'clear' Catholic priests of pre-pubescence abuse.... Period.

Time and again I have read right here on FR, Catholics post, the 'Church' does not have a priest pedophile problem ... just a 'homosexual' problem. Some have even cited the 'Jay doctrine' as if it were factual and evidence of such claims.

You posted this thread, and right off the bat, you plant the notion, your own personal bias as to what has taken place.

I don't know what to say about this. The Boy Scouts have certain things in common with the Catholic Church which makes them interesting to lawyers: Extensive assets which can fund big payouts Extensive records going back many decades, and The "gotcha" factor: "People used to think you were so decent, so "morally straight". Hypocrites!." You wonder ... I wonder ...how much is a search for justice for men who say they were molested 40-50 years ago, and how much is a desire to access $$$ and discredit/destroy traditional institutions.

Given that 'Catholic Charities has collected 'billions' from US taxpayers, in human trafficking, it seems to me, your concern about lawyers and $$$$$ is well misplaced. Does not matter how long ago the abuse was sanctioned. I am not a Catholic but I sure am charged for their so called 'charity work'.

Exactly to whom does a 'pre-pubescence' member of the Catholic Church, report abuse? They have no one... which is what is hidden like the fig leaves in the garden, hidden away and totally whitewashed.

......The John Jay report made it plain that the problem was homosexuality, not pederasty, ....

Sure it did, that was the purpose of the 'report'.... period... and that is exactly what I 'attempted' to state. Truly amazing how unaccountable these 'fake' holy men can become when the 'light' gets directed upon them. Now .... HELLO ... exactly to whom do those pre-pubescence members file an accusation when they were abused?

What amount of money has the Catholic church paid out to its own victims???
