It is to my understanding the flag is to be raised full staff, then lowered to half staff, and at dusk, is to again be raised to full staff before being lowered and stored.
The flag can remain at half staff at night if it is illuminated and isn’t supposed to be flown in bad or inclimate weather. When a flag is begining to become frayed or in disrepair it’s supposed to be desposed of in an honorable fashion.
There is a method in which it is to be destroyed, however, I don’t remember what it was. I do know there are groups that hold flag burning ceremonies the destroy them in the proper fashion.
