Foreign jihadists on death row out of Iraqi govt hands: PM

Iraq has convicted more than 500 foreign men and women of joining IS since the start of 2018 (AFP Photo/SABAH ARAR) More Baghdad (AFP) - The fate of hundreds of foreign jihadists sentenced to death or life terms in prison depends on Iraq's justice system, not the government, Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi told AFP.

"We have made no promises to any country to lighten these sentences," Abdel Mahdi said in his first full-length interview with international media.

"The justice system does not allow the Iraqi state to pardon those condemned to death," he said.

It is up to Iraq's court of cassation to examine terrorism-related verdicts and either uphold, amend or scrap them.

Eleven French nationals figure among the non-Iraqis on death row, while three others have been sentenced to life in jail, having been found guilty of belonging to the Islamic State (IS) group.

So far, no executions have been carried out, and a German woman's death sentence was commuted to life in prison on appeal.

lol

We could let them room one at a time with the Aryan Nation wing at prisons.

I’m sure guards would turn the other way :)

Yeah I needed JD. It’s been a long week.

“Now I know what it is.L

If you ever get the chance to try some do it.

You’ll thank me. Then you’ll find out how much it costs.

And you’ll be pissed at me.

You are both savages; the Glenmorangie Bacalta aged 12 years in a single cask.
If I am going to have a drink, it has to have a REAL FLAVOR.

(just kidding about the savages comment, but not the SCOTCH)

LOL

I’ll likely do both :)

One of the (insane and pointless) things on my bucket list is to drink “Night Train” but it just doesn’t seem like it’s made anymore.

It’s the name of one of my favorite songs and I just wanted to see if it was as cheap and strong a wine as they say.

I think it was wine :) VERY CHEAP wine!

“the Glenmorangie Bacalta aged 12 years in a single cask.”

Not bad. I’ve got a bottle of 18 year old Glenfiddich that I haven’t touched since 8 November 2016. There are two good pours left in it.

I’m saving those for November 2020.

Best,

L

We should be thanking the Iraqis for killing murderous scum that we lack the guts to punish properly.

I finally remember where I heard it. The remake of War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. The aliens came up from underground after intense electrical storms. They "ride the lightning" down to their pre-positioned machines underground.

I see. Never actually watched that movie. Generally hate remakes.

You didn’t really miss much. Some of the special effects were good.
