Each time a mass shooting strikes one of our communities we grieve. We gather our loved ones. We reach for answers and clamor for action. Each time, for a moment, it feels like this time will be different.

But then the news cycle rolls on. And we push down the gut-churning knowledge that it will be only a matter of time before it happens again. Between El Paso and Dayton only about 13 hours elapsed.

Republican leaders try to prevent action and parrot N.R.A. messaging — as Donald Trump did last week when he said, “Mental illness and hatred pulls the trigger, not the gun.”

But he never decided which way to point which end of the shotgun. He gets confused.

Ask him what we should do if he bans the shotguns. Maybe use a Samurai sword?

No, it's from VP Biden's address to the US Conference of Mayors in Jan 2013. Go to the 21:15 mark; he's imitating a 78-yr old woman who allegedly showed Joe how to "steady aim" a shotgun.

If you listen to this speech by Biden, it's amazing how far left he has moved. In parts of this speech, he's sounding fairly normal.
