How about we stop buying pharmaceuticals or major components of them from China and India and make them here? Give the pharmaceutical companies longer patents in exchange for lowered prices to match the lowest cost a drug is sold for worldwide AND require manufacture of the drug entirely in the US. America’s dependence of generic drugs is a disaster in the the making. China has us over the barrel.
There are way too many drugs in shortage, and geographical shortages are inexact, because some hospitals will share.

The “single-point-of-failure” in this case is you...(unless you are donating plasma twice a week, every week). Sue yourself! Suing people will only result in more drug shortages...pharma companies are in business to make a profit (about 11% on average)...people want “cheaper” and yet want “unlimited supply” kinda hard to do...”JIT” supply chains keep costs down and are mostly used in auto manufacturing and electronic manufacturing. (less inventory tax, etc.). But getting back to the topic...get down to “Octapharma” and donate! (you get paid there)...or your local blood bank plasma dept..
Imported drugs are held up at point of recieving in shipping, they have to be random tested for what is in them, making them late getting to your pharmacies, many manufactures have cut back on production to boot.

My Useless congress critter normally does chamber of Commerce photo ops, guess I shamed him into doing some Hospital ones, Addiction crap not PAIN Patients. He’s real proud he toured a couple of hospitals with doctors and Addiction Shrinks. But no one photo with a Intractable Pain Patient who is getting Tylenol for Cancer or a Mascetomy.
I use 3 different pharmacies, only 1 carries my generic water pill that the Cardio uses for my Enlarged Heart, The other 2 generics don’t work. Most of our meds come from the Navy Pharmacy, but refills come from Pensacola and there is no garnutee you will get the same drug every time. Which is a worry I don’t need, my Synthyroid has to be Name Brand, generic is a disaster. They often switch manufactures when they have a shortage, which is a issue for me as I’ve a long list of meds with drug reactions, and changing brands is not a good idea. 2 drugs can only be gotten from Express Scripts as cost is so high even with co-pay. Tricare insists they be gotten from there.
The Antibiotic for SIBO can only be gotten from the Base Pharmacy. Closed on weekends, training days, change of command for the pharmacy, or if the base is on lock down. It is one of those Urgent Antibiotics, yet Tricare balks at getting them anywhere else. Seems the attacks always occur late Friday. So not open until Mon or Tue. Nor can a ER diagnois SIBO. CT won’t show it, it requires a specail 4 hr test. 2-3 weeks to get into the Gastro, PCP hasn’t enough training to diagnosis.
The Private Pharmacy is open 7 days a week, just not late nights. Express Scripts is 2 Weeks to fill or refill.
