So what you are saying is you have a right to carry your gun but other people cannot carry their rifles? Open carry is open carry! Your right to carry does not supersede another’s right to carry for Pete’s sake! I have a right to raise my American flag but you think it wiser not to if I live in a demonrat city? If I am eating a pork sandwich on a sidewalk cafe and a Muslim walks by, should I hide the sandwich?

We have every GD right to exercise our rights at any time. If there are consequences for doing that then something is very wrong with our society. The rats certainly don’t hesitate to exercise their rights, do they?

What a scardey cat you are, FRiend. You are afraid to exercise your rights, which makes you a coward. I wouldn’t want to have you cover my back. I’m glad the men who raised our flag on Iwo Jima didn’t act like you!

So I am curious what the politically correct term of mourning after a shooting happens to be before it is acceptable to open carry again?

Actually, the law is likely on both actors sides, in separate situations....

Since Andreychenko WAS NOT charges with any firearms violations, the PA knows that his actions regarding arms was not the issue. Since the CCW guy has not been charged, we assume that the PA sees no issue with holding the subject at gunpoint...

Now, who cares about the CCW guy? He is not charged and likely wont be, he likely can articulate that he had a reasonable fear that the OC guy was a threat ( whether true or not...) given the recent incidents.

So, the law, regarding OC and the action of the CCW guy, is one their side. The law may also be on the OC guys side regarding the felony in the 2nd degree charge of communicating a terroristic threat.... especially if the case is heard in a year or so...

If the OC either dismissed or acquitted, then the CCW guy may find himself, along with others, in a serious lawsuit over the whole of the incident, Wally World for causing the panic response, the CCW guy for civil issues even f the PA never charges ( and he won’t). The govt folks will hide behind QI as usual.

“Well stated. Given the current environment, what is the difference between what this guy did and yelling fire in a crowded theater?”

Actually, they are different. One of them is totally LEGAL!

As for the other, I am against limiting speech in ANY way.

You should be allowed to shout “FIRE” in a crowded theater, while carrying an AR-15, while wearing a T shirt that says “Bill Clinton is a rapist”.

If someone shouted “fire” in a crowded theater, I wouldn’t panic. I’d say “where’s the fire? Where’s the smoke?

If someone shouted “fire” in a crowded theater, I’d say “Sit down and shut the hell up!”

phonetically inaccurate.

The Second Amendment comes with a great deal of responsibility. It can be exercised without making other people feeling insecure. Learn to be responsible and thoughtful. The idiot in the article is smart as a bag of hammers.

Open carry in public will get you a disturbing the peace charge at best, shot by overzealous city police at worst.

It will also ensure that you are the first one shot in any mass shooting situation.

I am a big proponent of concealed carry. It makes everyone safer, including those who are not carrying, if the bad guys do not know who may or may not have a gun. As a general rule, anyone who is planning to commit a criminal or terrorist act will choose a location (a so-called "gun free zone") where his victims cannot shoot back.

If you want to open carry it is your right, but having the right to do something and it being a good idea to do something are often very different things.

Had I seen this young man walking in to my local Walmart, I might have shot him dead.

What an irresponsible claim to make on a public forum. You should turn in your weapons.

“They are no ally of the Second Amendment...”

WRONG!

Don’t make any waves. If we exercise our 2nd amendment rights quietly and don’t draw attention to them, maybe the left will let us keep our guns. /s

BE BOLD! IN YOUR FACE gun rights.

This guy has BALLS! Good for him.

You MUST exercise your rights in order to keep them.

(p.s. don’t bother to flame me, as I never read responses to my comments. I don’t care what YOU think)

But what if there IS A FIRE in the theater? Remember the Brooklyn Theater Fire in which hundreds died when the fire broke out back stage the manager told the actors to not say anything! Then it was too late.

re: “You are afraid to exercise your rights”

Clearly, you’re an idiot, Furthermore, I would question whether you have the critical thinking skills to carry a deadly weapon in public, and lack the common sense to evaluate when deadly force should be used, and when it’s not.

I’m willing to bet that were you in a situation like Nick Meli was years back you’d have fired your weapon and hit a bystander, so eager are you to ‘act’ like some sort of super-hero and 2A “supporter”.

Maybe you need to review what Nick Meli did in the Clackamas Town Center mall the day *he* faced a live shooter.

Again, clearly, you’ve demonstrated to be an idiot.

Sorry, but you are mistaken.

There are whole classes of people that the mere presence of a firearm makes them feel insecure.

There are probably a few million for whom the mere presence of the Second Amendment makes them feel insecure.

Peoples rights do not depend on other people's feelings.

Other people's feelings are often irrational and irrelevant.

We have all seen the photo of the Murderer in El Paso walking into the Walmart with his Weapon in his hands, not slung over his shoulder.

What would be the reaction of any armed FReeper saw him walking in if this had happened in an Open Carry State?

Just curious...

re: “Your reaction is the one he wanted”

I’m thinking you need to go back and look how Nick Meli handled a live shooter at Clackamas.

You guys are fighting figments of your imagination.

You would do well to grow up, become adults, and learn a few things in the REAL WORLD.

WalMart Security? What state do you live in? Never have seen an armed or even a dedicated “security” person in a WalMart. I discussed security with my local store manager and he smiled and patted his radio and cell phone- the XXXX town police are for that. Loss prevention? indeed they monitor suspicious folks on camera but refer all believed violations for the local PD, per his words.
