House Judiciary Committee members will cut their August break short to get to work on gun violence, in an effort to increase pressure on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to act, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.
Some members want to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired 15 years ago, while others want to focus on legislation that is more likely to attract bipartisan support. But all House Democrats agree that something needs to be done.
They already passed two major pieces of gun safety legislation in February: the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and the Enhanced Background Checks Act. However, McConnell has refused to allow the Senate to vote on either bill.

FAKE NEWS: THE SENATE IS IN RECESS. DOH!

House Judiciary Committee members will cut their August break short to get to work on gun violence
ONLY IF IT CAN BE TIED TO TRUMP, who are the fooling, these bastards have done nothing in 2 years, nothing!
They have worked very hard to destroy the unity of the United States. It a communist thing.
Uh they're talking about the House committee. Are you saying that they really aren't going back to Washington?
They pass laws, but then they ignore them.
Ping.
I fear that the situation is more volatile than realized by some and would rather avoid hostilities being fomented by many.

Contact the Repub members of the committee and ask to pursue constitutional carry instead of things that can’t work.
Every time we have a mass shooting event, the democRATS want to "do something" to solve the gun violence problem. Each time, picking around the edges of our freedoms and constitutional rights, but never solving the problem. Their fixes never would have prevented the most recent incident.
Their goal? To eventually ban guns completely. That will only impact the lawful citizens who have a 2nd Amendment right to own and bear arms. Their "fixits" do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and mental wack jobs.
But they keep chipping away at our rights until, eventually, they could complete their coup de gras of the 2nd Amendment and take our guns forcibly.
Their latest ploy? To threaten the Supreme Court that if they don't start ruling against guns rights at the democRATS' behest, then they will "pack" the court with Leftists who will do their bidding. Not sure how they will do this if they are not in power in the White House or Senate.
This "red flag" law talk is venturing over into communist dictator territory, where you can call the authorities on a neighbor or family member to exact revenge and get their guns taken away. Or get them killed like the red flag law screwup did to a gun owner in his own house in a cluster f*ck in Maryland. That should be a good lesson as any, not to pass these red flag laws.
Trump gave them an open door by endorsing red flag rules. That legislation was written, just like obamacare, before the crisis.
He just gave them their dream legislation, heck yeah, they would come back.
Wont take them but a couple of days of kabuki legislation and phony protests from, well maybe no one this time.
Heck people are supporting his gun grab here. It’s genious strategy, right.
Sometimes inaction is the most positive action.

Trump was all in on stronger controls after the Parkland shooting, too. Lasted about a day. McConnell isn't going to allow any gun control legislation of any type to make it to the floor of the Senate and Trump isn't going to push him on it.
What about the bumpstock ban?
In three weeks the football season will kick off and America will largely have forgotten about these shootings.
Mitch is crazy like a fox.
The Dem House is separate from the GOP Senate. All political, nothing new here.
What about it? How many people have turned their bumpstocks in? How many have been prosecuted for owning one?
