A reporter at the scene of an attack on police officers in Philadelphia said that bystanders were mocking and taunting the police while bullets rained down upon them. The Blaze explains that a video has surfaced of a crowd confronting and even shoving police while they were dealing with a hostage situation.
Even as six police officers were being treated for injuries the attack by a man barricaded inside a home, the neighborhood residents expressed hostility and antagonism against the police. Reporter Alexandria Hoff of CBS-3 Philadelphia reported that she had been harassed along with the officers. Here's a tweet from the reporter about what she witnessed:

@AlexandriaHoff I mentioned this at 10 and since I was harassed during that live shot, Ill mention it here too. A major moment of disappointment this evening was watching a crowd of people taunt police officers, laughing and yelling at them in the midst of the gunfire. #PhiladelphiaShooting
During the gunfight, one police officer was shot in the hand while another was shot in the head. Eventually, all injured officers were released from the hospital, but the crowd couldn't have known that they'd survive.
As Twitter-user @BrookelynnML puts it: WTH is wrong with these people? Just look at the footage:

thanks, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, among others..
Well yeah. Pickin’ on some poor innocent black dude.
The constraint that police show is remarkable.
Unarmed. You forgot to add "unarmed." ... poor innocent unarmed black dude.
Five points off.
It’s like the 70’s all over again. Cops will only drive through these districts, while looking for the exit ramp again.
Choot 'em !
Feed the rabble and the cops in to mulch grinders. We’re better off with neither.
The reporter tweeted that 98% of the bystanders were respectful of the police.
Take that as "almost all" were respectful. There are always a few jerks around.
The poor folks in Philly are mostly good people.
Scum
Actually, it more like poor, unarmed black acting in self defense to protect himself from the racist, white police
People really don’t know nor understand what Police officers etc. have to contend with 24/7....no clue at all.
I know a couple officers and what they just “see” alone every day is enough to make one physically ill....let alone the dangers they face.
Bystandards should have backed far away...
The police should refuse to go into those neighborhoods and let the thugs fend for themselves.
Bingo. Being a police officer in a relatively large city is the most thankless job one might imagine.
No different from the way crowds reacted to police in core mafia controlled areas
The trash holding the rest of Philly’s black population hostage shows up.
I can guarantee the mother who is desperately trying to keep her kids straight was not among the trash.
Pompous anarchist scum chiming in, eh?
When you enter the home lair of the ferals do not expect human interaction.
What these two officers could share with me would leave anyone wondering how they even go to work in the morning!
