The New York Medical Examiner's Office released its official autopsy report on financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, finding that he died from suicide by hanging.
On Thursday, the Washington Post reported, citing unnamed sources, that Epstein's autopsy had found "multiple breaks in his neck bones," noting that while that kind of damage can be obtained by self-hanging, "they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation." However, Friday's official report concluded the bones were broken by Epstein kneeling toward the floor with sufficient force to break them, having fashioned a noose from a bedsheet tied to a set of bunk beds, the New York Times reported.
Epstein, 66, died six days ago in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while he awaited trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Due to his having attempted suicide only weeks earlier and his high profile status, Epstein's death aroused a host of conspiracy theories that he had been murdered by powerful friends who feared he might expose their connections to his alleged pedophilic sex ring in his upcoming trial.
The fear of conspiracy was sufficient to prompt Republican Senators Ron Johnson and Chuck Grassley to pen a letter to Attorney General William Barr earlier on Friday asking that Epstein's full autopsy be released. Barr has pledged that in Epstein's death, “any co-conspirators should not rest easy.”
Epstein's death is the subject of four federal investigations, including the conduct of the guards assigned to him the night of his death.
NBC reported Friday that a mysterious "Epstein associate" had filed for control over the billionaire financier's remains following the autopsy.
A couple of days ago, heard a guy on the radio saying that at one point during a strangulation, the body convulses and that would bread the other bones besides the hyoid.
Hmmmm, i wonder who is best qualified to determine the manner and cause of death:
1. A trained and experienced forensic pathologist, OR,
2. A keyboard warrior with a minimal education who works down at the manure plant and spends all their free time convincing themselves that conspiracies are everywhere and responsible for everything and nothing actually is as it appears to be.

Why would anyone ever think they were going to say it’s a homicide? If he was offed, then of course the professionals behind it were going to make sure the medical examiner was on their side. And if he was forced to off himself, it’s going to look like a suicide.

Yeah, I want to know exactly what the examiner means by “bones”. Outside the hyoid the only other true bones in the throat/neck are vertebrae. And I can’t imagine either a kneeling self-strangulation or a manual strangulation by a killer breaking vertebrae. Only a drop hanging would do that but they’re saying he was kneeling. This makes me wonder if by “bones” she really means the hyoid plus nearby cartilage but not the vertebrae. In that case we’re back to kneeling strangulation making sense or, if you’re in a conspiratorial mood, manual choking. But as it is now, things don’t quite line up IMO.

I think it is propaganda and don’t believe it. Anyone who has raced motocross bikes can testify to how hard it truly is to break a human neck. If it was that easy every motocross racer who took a bad tumble would have a broken neck, helmets wrench a neck harder than any cell environment could.
Reminds me of the guy who killed himself way back in the days of the Billy Sol Estes scandals.

I’m not buying that he wanted to die. This is a man who could always get what he wanted. He wasn’t ready to give up.

Keep in mind that the hyoid bone is in your throat...basically your adams apple. It’s not going to get stressed in a bike accident. But it does get stressed when you’ve got a rope around your neck, or someone’s hands. That’s why a broken hyoid is considered a telltale sign of strangulation. Hyoids in older men are also more prone to breaking because they ossify over time. These are factoids I’ve gathered from a few articles posted here on FR.
What’s bugging me is the examiner’s use of the plural “bones”. To me, strictly speaking, this would mean that not just the hyoid but also vertebrae were broken. And here I agree with you that it takes some pretty extreme forces to break vertebrae, forces that are unlikely in my non-expert opinion to be present in either a kneeling self-strangulation OR a manual strangulation by another person. I think you’d only get forces like that in a drop hanging but they’re saying that’s not what happened.

Even with your blanket. There is a whole science behind preventing self hangings in prisons. They even have engineers who design these facilities with self hanging prevention as the first priority.
Been there. Now if they had said he bashed his head into a a wall, metal bunk, the bars, or the toilet and died from a concussion and head injuries I would believe it, but it would take some time for it to be successful. It’s about the only way you can do it other than getting access to poison.
