First Coast High teacher removed after scolding students who don’t stand for pledge
jacksonville ^

Posted on 08/17/2019 8:16:08 AM PDT by MarvinStinson

"A high school science teacher was removed from his classroom in Duval County after he wrote a statement on his whiteboard reprimanding anyone who refused to stand for either the Pledge of Allegiance or “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Below is Goodman’s full whiteboard statement:

“THINK: We had about a half million Americans die in our Civil War, which was largely to get rid of slavery. There are no longer separate water fountains and bathrooms in Jacksonville for “white” and “colored,” as Mr. Goodman remembers from the 1960′s. We had an amendment to the U.S. Constitution allowing women the right to vote. We have had a Black president. The superintendent of Duval Schools is a Black woman. Mr. Fluent, our principal, replaced a Black man, Mr. Simmons, who now is a D.C.P.S. administrator.

MY POINT? You are all extremely lucky to be living in the U.S.A. If you refuse to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance or our National Anthem (AS SOME PAMPERED ARROGANT CELEBRITIES AND ATHLETES TEND TO DO), are you revealing maturity and wisdom? Actually, you are displaying the opposite.

-Mr. G.”

District personnel were made aware of the situation.

“The statements made by the educator are not consistent with state statute or school board policy,” Duval County Public Schools said in a statement.

Florida Statute 1003.44 and Board Policy 3.60 says students are excused from reciting or standing for the pledge as long as their parent or legal guardian files a written request. The district’s code of conduct says students have the right “not to participate,” which includes “reciting,” “standing and placing the right hand over [their] heart.”

Goodman’s actions have been referred to the Office of Professional Standards for “review and appropriate action,” the district said. The teacher has been removed from his classroom.

Go over the Duval line into Clay County.
Green Cove, Orange Park, or especially Middleburg will take him.

How dare he challenge his students to THINK about what they are doing when they protest the National Anthem.

Had he challenged them to think about how evil and racist the USA is before standing, he would be praised.

We have an amendment outlawing slavery

The NFL idiot admin could have stated this

However, the stadiums did not empty out when the players disrespected the flag

That’s who is to blame for all this

The wimp football fans caring more about a game than their country

It is as simple as that. Men ready and willing to give it up

"He must have been tired of teaching."

Tired of teaching in that particular school district, anyway. He was correct in what he said, but wrong in what he did, considering the stated rules of the district he works for. There are other school districts where he might get away this, but I imagine they are becoming a vanishing breed.

Schools use to teach our kids that America is great even though we made mistakes.

Now schools only teach that we made mistakes.

Agree, I suspect any urban school district has been fully saturated with administrators who would be fine with the electric chair for this offense. Maybe rural or smaller districts would tolerate it but I suspect even they would fall short of a full throated endorsement.

Just ask the little cretins WHY they refuse to stand.

Then use their ignorance as a learning experience for the rest of the Class.

That turns it from a lecture into a discussion.

One cannot tell the truth in this day and age. He is very fortunate that he was not executed.

It is a shame that the school board rejects the honest words that Mr. Goodman wrote.

These students should take a knee when a judge comes into the courtroom and see what happens.

No, he was teaching.

Liberal fools deem high-schoolers too naïve to hear the truth yet these same liberal devils install all manner of degeneracy into the curriculum to indoctrinate high-schoolers in the leftist hell-bound debaucheries. The liberal mind is at enmity with God, twisted and defiled beyond fixing. Sadly, they will bring America to an end and blame God-fearing citizens for the ruin.
