The dolphins were filmed gently playing with the puffer, passing it between each other for 20 to 30 minutes at a time, unlike the fish they had caught as prey which were swiftly torn apart. Zoologist and series producer Rob Pilley said that it was the first time dolphins had been filmed behaving this way.
At one point the dolphins are seen floating just underneath the water's surface, apparently mesmerised by their own reflections.

Un reported was the fact that the mesmerized dolphins were female
Or they’re too stupid to know puffer fish are toxic?
Give them some shrooms and see what happens.
I swam in the Pacific with Spinner dolphins. That was awesome.
One came right up to me. Ill never forget that.
Do they ever bite too hard and OD?
Im pretty sure dolphins arent stupid.
Eating puffer fish isn’t smart.
Oh, really?
So why don't they pass the word and get out of the way of passing tuna boats and their nets?
Kids these days...
Personally, I’m not that surprised. For an extremely intelligent creature, spending its entire life in a semi-dark void, eating fish, surfacing to breathe, submerging to find more fish, eating, and so on must become a bit boring. Playing chicken with the bow wake of human ships, jousting with sharks, and occasionally rescuing those funny hairless apes the sharks try to eat, just doesn’t happen quite often enough to relieve the ennui. So taking a few tokes on a ball of neurotoxin could fill in the gaps. If they had underwater saloons they’d probably be found congregating at the bar.
Well, they ARE the most sexually active mammals on land or sea.
... except, perhaps, for lobotomized chimps.
I actually though this was an NFL story.
How many humans OD and die from alcoholism?
In 2017 in the US alone:
70,000+ overdoses
88,000+ alcohol related deaths
47,000+ suicides
Don’t Bogart that fish my friend, pass it over to me.
I'm sure they are smarter than a lot of humans I have meet.
I have no idea, how many dolphin’s die alcohol poisoning?
Far fewer than the stupid ones that eat puffer fish.
They do meet up at The Sand Bar. I saw them when I was cruising by in my Sting Ray.
