A minor functionarys farcical encounter with a self-promoting schemer provided the excuse for an investigation. Editors note: Andrew C. McCarthys new book is Ball of Collusion: The Plot to Rig an Election and Destroy a Presidency. This is the fourth in a series of excerpts; the first can be read here, the second here, and the third here.
The George Papadopoulos Origin Story has never added up. It has been portrayed as the Big Bang, the Magic Moment that started the FBIs investigation of collusion a suspected election-theft conspiracy between Donald Trumps campaign and Vladimir Putins regime. But if the young energy-sector analyst had actually emerged in early 2016 as the key to proving TrumpRussia espionage, you would think the FBI might have gotten around to interviewing him before January 27, 2017 i.e., a week after President Trump had been inaugurated, and six months after the Bureau formally opened its Crossfire Hurricane probe.
You would probably also think Papadopoulos, Suspect One in The Great Cyber Espionage Attack on Our Democracy, might have rated a tad more than the whopping 14-day jail sentence a federal judge eventually imposed on him. You might even suppose that hed have been charged with some seditious felony involving clandestine operations against his own country, instead of . . . yes . . . fibbing to the FBI about the date of a meeting.
That, however, does not scratch the surface. We are to believe that what led to the opening of the FBIs TrumpRussia investigation, and what therefore is the plinth of the collusion narrative, is a breakfast meeting at a London hotel on April 26, 2016, between Papadopoulos and Joseph Mifsud, a Maltese academic we are supposed to take for a clandestine Russian agent. We are to take ..

When is any congressional committee going to issue a subpoena for Mifsud? The same for a grand jury? And who is going to do a FOIA request of DOJ, FBI, DNI, CIA, NSA, etc for records on him (which they will deny they have or refuse to turn over on national security grounds (hint, hint, he worked for us or Russia, or both).
Was in a BAM store this weekend and didn’t see this book anywhere.
“A minor functionarys farcical encounter with a self-promoting schemer provided the excuse for an investigation.”
That is exactly backwards. A coup attempt TARGETED a minor functionary as a cover story.
And there stands TRUMP.
The Colossus astride the consciousness of the Democrats and inhabiting the minds of “The Squad”.
He juggles an innumerable number of balls.
Effortlessly.
And we all wonder....
which ball will he catch.....
and which one he will toss ...
and in what direction this time.
Somehow he knows which ones to allow to reach the ground ......
and when.
The show must go on.
By the way, Papadapolus is the only one who lied to a Fed in an investigation, and they didn’t lock him up. I think there’s a reason for that... and not one we would like.
I don’t trust him...none.
Papadopolous served a 14 day sentence for lying to the FBI.
Andy, you’re a bit late to the party pal. What a putz.
No kidding. Sounds a lot like Bongino’s book Spygate only a year and a half later. McCarthy seems like a typical GOP establishment type. Once something smacks him in the face with a shovel, he sees it.
McCarthy was in denial for nearly two years, now he’s a band wagon rider. I can’t stand the guy. If he joins the fight I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with him, but I still can’t stand him.
i would like to know who actually ordered the special counsel?
***professor Mifsud admitted to being a western intelligence asset who was part of a CIA intelligence operation against candidate Donald Trump in March 2016***
Note March 2016... which proves the counter-intel operation targeting Trump was a preplanned official operation. The DoJ's official position is that the operation began in July of 2016, in response to actions of Popadopoulos - the very person Mifsud was directed to ensnare 4 months earlier.
Continuing to blow my own horn, two days after the release of the Mueller Dossier I posted that Mifsud would turn out to be a key to the DS coup operation. !:^O
Save for later
There is a kindle version available.
Early on Papadopoulos claims he knew something wasn't right and he knew his conversations were being recorded.
I don't understand why Papadopoulos didn't use his phone or buy a small pocket recorder to record his conversations after he suspected there was something odd going on.
If he had recorded just ONE conversation we would to having a completely different discussion about the Russian collusion narrative.
Papadopoulos missed a golden opportunity to prove his case.
It was a setup from the word go, and Democrats knew it.
