Good morning, Dean. I have a question.
Do you find it odd that some of the recent firearm related murders involved different types of weapons -particularly NFA kinds?
The bum who used the suppressor in Virginia Beach, the AR pistol in this case.
I just found it to be an odd coincidence. Almost like someones trying to make problems where none existed.
I wanted to mail my son two CO2 powered BB pistols. According to their website the Post Office classifies a BB pistol as a firearm.
At first, I found it a bit odd.
But both items are becoming more popular.
So, it is not unexpected that they would be used in crimes more often.
I have a Rossi Ranch Hand in 45 Colt that is classified as a handgun. It’s a loose copy of the old Steve McQueen gun in Wanted Dead or Alive, Lever action 24 inch length. I’d love to Open Carry it but I’d spend most of my time on my face, in jail, or in court.
Interesting thought. Darn convenient fir the gungrabbers.
That is an interesting charge. Do you have anything to back it up?
My memory is quite different. I suspect you are mixing up Dean Weingarten with Gene Weingarten, or perhaps Randy Weingarten. Both of the later are committed Leftists.
Gene Weingarten writes for the Washington Post. Randy Weingarten is President of the American Federation of Teachers.
Dean Weingarten graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Is that your alma mater?
For the purposes of clarity, I am Dean Weingarten. My screen name on freerepublic is marktwain.
"I have been observing and writing about the George Zimmerman's digital lynching from very early on.
As I monitor and write about self defense stories, I caught an early version of the events in Sanford, Florida. The story said that a black teenager had been shot in self defense. A picture was included. Reading the story, I concluded that the picture was that of the black teenager that had been shot. I was wrong. The picture was of George Zimmerman.
It was an easy mistake to make. As with a large and increasing number of Americans, George has a mixed race background. One of his great grandfathers was black, and he has a somewhat dark complexion. The early story said that George had a concealed carry permit. That placed the statistics on his side. People who go to the trouble of obtaining concealed carry weapon (CCW) permits, are extremely law abiding. They are many times more law abiding than the average population, and commit murder much less often than police officers.
I was surprised at the institutional corruption that the old media displayed to demonize George, falsely accuse him of racism, and even to digitally modify images and audio files to convict him in the public mind.
I was not surprised that a jury came up with a not guilty verdict. The facts of the case were never in doubt. "
My son is building a 300 Blackout with a suppressor. It is all above my pay-grade, but I think that it is considered a “pistol” - but it sure looks like a short-barreled rifle to me!
With a pistol I do just a tad better than him. With a rifle we’re about even. I can still kick his butt at the shotgun range!

It has enough power for hunting or self defense. It works well with suppressors and pistol length barrels.
Close to the .30-30 in full power loads.
Close to the 10mm in subsonic loads.
“...crapping all over ...”
The only “crapping all over” I see is coming from some Noob towards a long-time, well-respected Freeper.

Gotta say, that’s a rifle, regardless of what the nomenclature says. “Forearm braces” are fig leaves for ultra-short CQB rifles. So yeah, the shooter used a “rifle”. But as always, the type of weapon used has nothing to do with the tragedy. It’s about the person.
Welcome to Free Republic!
Hah! You beat me to the obligatory “Welcome”!
There’s a lot of common sense in your article...which the Left will immediately ignore. Keep up the fight!
What do you think about the new Winchester “350 Legend” round?
I was thinking about buying one for deer hunting in southern MI.
I just thought it was damned rude.
