MORE than 1,000 children were caught carrying knives in schools last year - with the youngest aged just four, figures show.
Weapons seized by police included machetes, hunting knives, a samurai sword and even a highlighter pen which had its nib changed to a blade.
... In Manchester, an 11-year-old, who had replaced a highlighter nib with a blade, told another pupil: "Listen to me or else I'll stab you."
Former teacher David Simmons, who set up the Changing Lives charity, said he was confronted by a six-year-old brandishing a knife while working in a north London school.
"He was threatening other staff members and saying that he was going to stab them so I've gone over trying to calm this child down," he said.
"He's then said he's going to stab me and kill me."

So?
I carry a K-nife at all times for work and should occasion rise, I can go all Jethro Gibbs and defend myself...
Wait till they find out what John Wick can do with a pencil.
In UK they probably count toy knives for illegal contraband.
I once had an abviously toy plastic sword removed from carry-on in airport in Paris. There was a kid with inflatable toy hammer. He had it confiscated by security too.
While the other kids studied global warming, I studied the blade.
They are also going after screwdrivers and pliers. Are they against crime or home repairs?
If pliers are outlawed, only outlaws will have pliers!
We always carried pen knives when I was a kid...50s. We played a game called mumbly peg (sp). Never thought of it as a weapon.
Same here through the mid 70’s.
The anti’s want the sheep unarmed.
Heck, we were allowed to carry 22 rifles on the fricken school bus!
Seriously...
Another time..another place...
Any guy that didn’t have a pocket knife at school would have been considered weird in my day. My preference was a nice wood-handled Gerber.
I got my first jackknife when I was 7, in 1962, and have carried one or more knives ever since (except in airports and courthouses and such). As far as I knew back then, pretty much everyone carried some kind of pocketknife to school, and everywhere else.
Any guy who threatened someone with a knife would have been considered a total weenie.
I remember when I was in first grade kids brought their rifles for show and tell and that was fine.
People need defense and will get it everywhere they can. You could find weapons in maximum security prisons. If kids do it don’t be surprised.
“The horror, the horror”.
