The point is that the author of the article mentioned the flesh eating bacteria being found in Florida. There is really no such thing, much like septicemia is caused by a systemic infection and not an unique agent. Also many of the strains that cause necrotizing fasciitis can be found in temperate climates.

People get this condition from having a scratch or open wound when they go into the water, like the beach. Or a lake or river.

It can be found in many places besides Florida.
