Biden disconnected from Dem base. All these crazies in the primary are running left, in part, because it is the base that votes in primaries. They are also running to extreme ideas because of their silly debate structure that emphasizes raising $1 from apx 100,000 people and increasing from there. So they promise the moon and the stars and spend $70 in outreach for every $1 they raise. If they do that, you can only imagine how efficient Democrat governance will be.

Biden is not at all disconnected from the Democrat base.
He firmly holds the centrists and the realists within the party.
There is a certain desperation to cast him out in order to cement the leftward lunge made during his vice presidency.
Democrats don’t really have a base.
They have a debase.

I wouldn’t worry about Biden. In addition to his obvious stupidity, he is too old and too Establishment to appeal to Millennials. He is shaping up to be a male Hillary Clinton, except he does his own groping rather than leave it up to his spouse.
There’s a first time for everything, they say - but nobody not titled “Governor” has ever defeated a sitting POTUS. And nobody who has been titled Senator or Governor for 18 years has ever won.There are a couple of Democrat governors still in the presidential field, but they don’t get much traction.
Least of all would I expect a mere Representative to beat a sitting POTUS. Abe Lincoln was the only one in history to win the presidency with Representative as his highest previous public office.
