Scary. Pancreatic cancer killed Patrick Swayze. His before and after pictures are stark.

What was her other cancer treatment for? Pancreatic cancer truly is a deadly disease. Michael Landon, Vince Flynn, Patrick Swayze - all very young died from it.

The more MONEY and power you have, the less deadly it is...

Right, Ruthie?

My co-worker died from this a few years ago.
He had no symptoms until one morning he came to work and was Homer Simpson yellow.
I called his attention to it. He saw his doctor two days later.

Too late he died within the year.

“While the court said Ginsburg’s tumor “was treated definitively...”

I cannot believe the court issued this inane statement. Other than some benign sorts of cancers skin etc. there is no such thing as a cancer being “treated definitively”

No responsible physician would ever issue such a conclusive proclamation concerning the treatment of ANY pancreatic cancer let alone one involving an 86 year old patient.

One day her back was hurting and they took x rays and found it.

Died 3 months later.

IK would love the Supreme Court to be conservative, but there is no way I’m hoping for pancreatic cancer on any individual.. When we reach that level, God will certainly judge our character accordingly.

What a terrible disease.

I personally know so many people who have been taken by pancreatic cancer, in addition to all the celebrities. When I was an undergrad nursing student in the 90s, they told us it was rare. I no longer believe that.

BTW, any news on Alex Trebek?

It's similar to kidney cancer in that you don't know you have it until it's spread to the point where it's difficult if not impossible to treat.

I had an aortic dissection a few years ago, and when they scanned my abdomen they found a one-inch malignant tumor on my right kidney. I was able to get it removed before it had a chance to spread. The ironic thing is that if I hadn't had the dissection (which is a pretty bad thing in and of itself) I'd never have known about the tumor until it was too late.

I wonder why they don't recommend a CT scan maybe once every five years or so for everybody over a certain age. That might go a long way toward early detection of some very nasty conditions.

Marilyn Horne (opera singer) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2005. She doesn’t perform anymore but she is still alive.

This is very personal and pertinent. I am sitting in recovery as I write this. My wife’s pan tumor was removed yesterday.

The mortality rate is so crazy because you are nearly dead when the first symptoms show up. By the grace of God we caught ours in Stage 1 and the docs said we should be aggressive and pursue a cure. So we are being aggressive.

Pan Cancer lags way behind the other cancers in detection, treatment and survival. But the major cancer centers are sprinting to catch up.

Pancreatic cancer is bad. RGB’s recurrent pancreatic cancer is even worse. She’s also had prior colorectal and lung manifestations. At her age and with her history, 6 months survival would be generous.

Had a scare with my pancreas several years ago but when my gall bladder was removed, the swelling went down. Buddy of mine is a GP and he said the last thing you want is anyone messing with your pancreas because it’s a sensitive organ.

I am an 11 year survivor of pancreatic cancer. I was double lucky in that it was a neuroendocrine tumor and it was diagnosed early. I have had chronic pain in my lower right abdomen for years. My doctor had me get a CT scan and after the scan he called and told me that there was nothing on the scan that looked like it would cause the pain. But, it did show a mass in my pancreas. They did a needle biopsy of the tumor and it was malignant.

They set me up with an appointment with an oncologist who happened to be the same doctor that Randy Pausch (The Last Lecture) had. In the two weeks that I waited to see him I made the mistake of Googling pancreatic cancer. I was pretty sure I would be dead in less than a year.

I had robot assisted laparoscopic surgery and it saved my life. I almost died from the complications of the surgery. I got double pneumonia and went into respiratory arrest and it took a long time to recover but I did survive. They told me prior to the surgery that if it wasn’t successful I could expect to live seven years. Pretty much how long Steve Jobs lasted.

Not more than 2 hours ago we , were told that a strapping 50ish firefighter ,who has a boat on our dock, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He’s a really tough guy with 5 teenage sons and we’re all in shock.
