Banning bicycles has not political advantage to the people who want to rule.
The key word in that is accident. Nobody used a bicycle to kill 22 people in a Walmart.
There are any number of valid reasons to use to oppose all these knee-jerk gun control proposals but stupid comparisons like this aren't the way to go about it.

Gun violence in the u s. is extremely overhyped. we have a gun problem but it is a small compared to illegal drugs and smoking. we have a general population that believes everything the nightly news tells them or the local fish rag prints. Media is driving this agenda , not facts.
Most bicycles aren’t scary looking and there are no mass bicycling deaths ... so no, there’s no cry for banning them.

My sister got something jammed in the front tire of her bicycle when she was around 14 years old. The front tire locked up, it flipped her over, and then the back tire came around, knocked some teeth out, and rearranged her face.

If you ever see some ‘adults’ riding bikes in Tampa (in the poor section), you’ll see that we need bicycle licenses. As a bicyclist, I would ask for it. Of course, drivers aren’t exactly innocent either..
Agreed. One serious problem, as I see it, is that many people today get the news from TV alone.
Recently, a friend told me that she has nothing against people owning a rifle or handgun for protection “in their homes”, but nothing more. She’s never been online and does not read any newspapers. She also has no idea what the Second Amendment is about. She’s not unusual.
I hereby call for a ban on adults riding bikes. The adults are larger than the children. The adults riding bikes could harm children riding bikes. Adults peddling is a travesty when children are there peddling too. Save the children bike riders and ban the adult bike riders. Do it for the children ! !
Once they determine that counterrevolutionaries are traveling to clandestine meetings on bicycles, they will be banned, too. It’s just further down the priority list. :)

It’s a stupid analogy because the most common cause of death in these bicycle accidents is a head injury exacerbated by failing to wear a helmet. Most states have a helmet law protecting minors or juveniles but most are unenforced.
It’s not the bicycle that killed them, it was their parents failing to appreciate the dangers of riding bare-headed and also failing to see to it that the law was obeyed, so the parents live on in denial to mitigate the guilt.
