“Isn’t the entire concept of driving stock looking cars at extreme speeds just an invitation for young people to drive too fast on the roads? How dare they lead the impressionable children of America along the path of driving fast. Speed is a factor in nearly every fatal automobile accident.”

To the contrary...
NASCAR has taught along the lines of speed belongs
on the tracks, not on public roads. Many of those
killed on Americas’ highways due to excessive speed
haven’t seen a NASCAR race on TV, much less attended
one in person. Kids have been building hot rods since
the automobile was born. Drag racing has had a greater
impact on young impressionable drivers a lot more than
NASCAR has.
Young drivers are killed in every type of motorsports.
Be it drag racing, rock crawling, off-road trails,
monster trucks, boating, motocross...etc. If it’s
got an engine, sadly, there are those that won’t
follow the rules and eventually pay the price.
NASCAR is wrong for allowing politics into what
once was a great institution. But they’re starving
for cash and are now bending in a direction that
they believe will allow the cash to keep flowing.
I’ll continue to watch and attend a race when I
can. They still have great respect for our
military, national anthem, and the American flag.

Still waiting for NASCRASH fans to admit their version of racing is really a spec series and not anything resembling stock/production/reality based.

A lot of those have turned out to be lies. Also NASCRASH has been caught having their tracks paint the seats so that at a fast pan it looks like the seats are full when they’re not.

This is what real racing looks like these days: ACTUAL PRODUCTION BASED CARS (along with limited production and prototypes)

Rubbing is not racing.

it’s a pretty small track- those were 3-d people in the stands- These weren’t fast pans I was seeing-

Now, at many tracks I’m seeing lately- the stands are nowhere near full- they are defiantly losing fans- but bristol, at least from what I’ve seen recently, is still doing ok- maybe it was just for that one race- i dunno- but we’ll see-

I would point out that the American manufacturers’ obsession with NASCAR and related spec series oval racing is part of what’s led to the downfall of the American sedan. Ever since the Car Of Tomorrow (snort, giggle, laugh, yeah, more like Spec Car Of The 1970s) and for a considerable time before that, there hasn’t been any R&D point to racing in NASCAR. It’s purely marketing for the car brands, and it’s no longer successful marketing. There has been no tech transfer from NASCAR back to the production vehicles in three decades. The spec cars only have to last a couple hours and they use outdated ancient technology to begin with.

Meanwhile, everyone else in the world went racing at Le Mans, the Nurburgring, even the US’ own Sebring for 24 hour races. With actual production based cars and prototypes exhibiting/testing the latest and greatest the companies could come up with. The end result was money that wasn’t just dumped into fruitless marketing but was also serving an R&D purpose - researching and testing technologies that will show up in cars on the dealership floor as soon as next year. And the cars *have* to hold up for the entire 24 hours or at least be easily serviced, or they’re done. And it shows in the end products you can get from Toyota, etc. Race on Saturday *and* Sunday, get tech that will help sell your car on Monday - and not because you won or didn’t win either.

Ford and GM have both improved their sports car offerings immensely as a direct result of them getting back into 24 hour racing. Ford’s trucks have massively improved as a result of Ford going back into Baja racing.

What has NASCAR contributed but a sense of enablement for manufacturers to rest on their laurels?

too funny. probably would - parents bought him a kart racer. He's also ga-ga over K-1 racing.

I did word that kinda goofy. His parents indulge him whenever NASCAR runs a race in the vicinity...They live in Texas, near the OK border. He's also been to NC & IL to see races.

I suggest World Superbike or Le Mans Series racing. Actual production vehicles - sometimes going much, much faster than those NASCAR jalopies.

NASCAR tops out at 196mph. LMS series racers routinely turn in 210+ mph or more on their road courses and some have hit nearly 250. Oh, and they turn right as well as left.

If it gets Raced and has an Engine I’m in. I miss the Lawnmower Racing that used to be on TNN. I do think they should have made them keep the mowing deck on them.

Already got the IMSA Race set to DVD and NUTSCAR Trucks as well for Tomorrow. I did find the Super Bikes on Yesterday.

They have also been playing the Red Bull Air Races here lately and of course NHRA.
