Tel New Orleans will be well above the highest tide, the levees are no longer needed to protect the city. The Mighty Mississippi can be freed to rebuild the delta.
In this case, it would be me eating smoked turkey. I took my frozen turkey out of my freezer a few days ago with the plan to smoke it on the Weber grill this Saturday. I should have enough turkey for a couple of days. Oh, and it will be supplemented with lots of liquor if the hurricane arrives. That's what we do during hurricanes.
It’s kind of tracking like Irma. West. Ended up hitting southwest Florida.

No. Actually it is tracking more to the northwest and looks to hit north of Palm Beach County. Also right now this storm appears weak with maximum sustained winds of only 50 mph. Also this storm will be weakened by the mountain range on Hispaniola if it crosses that island.

I was in PR during and after Hurricane María. One of the first thing I and many others were yelling to the winds was DO NOT SEND BOTTLED WATER to the island. We didn’t need it. Some people think that by donating water they are helping and can then feel good about themselves. But that’s ridiculous. Pallets of water take a tremendous amount of space in cargo ships and airplanes, which could have been used for other more critical supplies. What we really needed was ice, the machines to make it and the generators to run them. Imagine how many of those we could have had instead of endless pallets of bottled water nobody wanted or needed. Knowing we would be without power for months, what we needed was shiploads and plane loads of ice. It has been done in the past. I was in the National Guard during Georges in 1998, and the Air National Guard sent us a C-130 from Miami full of ice every evening, which we distributed to the families. Just one relatively small cargo airplane satisfied the food and medicine refrigeration needs for about 150 families, and this went on for at least two weeks.
But sending bottled water, diapers, and canned food just clogs up the logistics.
Next time, just send ice, and we’ll take care of the rest!
I’m hoping for a direct hit and wipe out of Miami.

A great business friend that I used to supervise when he was a young Project Manager is building some major projects on PR. This will be his third hurricane he and his project have ridden out.
