President Donald Trump says it's "possible" he will invite Russia to rejoin the annual meeting of the world's advanced economies when he hosts the summit next year.
Speaking at the Group of Seven summit in France during a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Trump says he's considering inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia was a member of what was then the Group of Eight, but was expelled by the majority of the other countries in 2014 over its invasion of Ukraine.

He’s not the first of the G7 countries to say this.
The ‘G8’ (with Russia invited) was a normal thing from the late 90s...til around five years ago.
I don’t see a problem with this. It’s not like it’s a private club with real accomplishments going on. It’s there to mostly mingle, gossip, get pictures taken and pretend you are accomplishing international relations.
Gasp! Collusion!
Dems = RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA! The real enemy is China. (see Greenland)
“was expelled by the majority of the other countries in 2014 over its invasion of Ukraine.”
You mean the US sponsored coup in Ukraine.
Makes sense to have Russia in than just to allow Germany to make low-ball deals with them - that only helps Germans.
President Trump is negotiating. No problem.
The former Ukraine head was a thug who left in the middle of the night to his Russian sponsor.
People were protesting in the dead of winter in the capital. Then a dead of night departure suddenly left the country with another chance to try freedom.
There was no coup. Ther are however elections with a decisive one most recently showing the democratic spirit is very much alive in Ukraine.
Wonder what El Trumpo is up to...?
Yeah, what happened around five years ago?
Turning it from the G-7 to the G-2 would be my guess.
The democratic spirit? You mean electing a man whose only point was he was an actor playing a honest president in sitcom and zero political or business experience whatsoever?
Also a popular protest doesn’t exclude a cope. Nuland wiretaps are out for quite some time to know.
It is irrefutable fact that the president installed in a coup was more corrupt and less popular by the end of his presidency than the deposed one.
Go Russia. When you help us elect Trump you get rewarded by Trump.
Just kidding. But the idea will be discussed at the NYT. Nothing will come of it, of course. They have moved on from Russia, Russia, Russia to Racist, Racist, Racist and are mostly holding Recession, Recession, Recession in reserve.
Could someone tell me why the EU president is running around at the G-7? Serious question.
Haven’t seen it in English so far but there is a new interview of exiled Ukrainian MP Onischenko who first spilled the beans on Clinton-Poroshenko collusion.
He says Poroshenko was installed and supported by Obama administration under some terms.
First was to allow infiltration of certain industries by certain people uncluding but not limited to Hunter Biden.
Second to allow NABU. An FBI-themed and FBI-controlled above-everything ‘anti-corruption’ agency. The idea of NABU was to compile two lists of people. First are ‘corrupt’ politicians and businessmen who are to get jailed and prosecuted with extreme prejudice and the second of ‘innocent’ untouchable figures who aren’t getting prosecuted under any circumstances.
Needless to say that Hunder Biden and alikes were on second list and their business adversaries on first.
Another promise was to keep the war in Donbas as hot as possible.
Poroshenko tried hard but generally failed at both.
NABU couldn’t work with every local LEO and judge owned by different national mobs and tycoons with their own conflicting business interests often counter to that protected by FBI.
The war in Donbass prectically waned due to a high death toll, defections and desertions.
President could do little to solve both problems decisively.
Another problem Poroshenko invested too much into Hillary campaign including fake Russian collusion and Trump surely knew it.
That is how Poroshenko generally fell from favor.
Probably getting ready to take over above the rest of euro presidents.
The EU president has attended every session since 1981.
