I think efforts in Scotland for separation and efforts in Northern Ireland to do likewise existed long before Brexit and will continue regardless. Both have been a drain on the financial strength of England/Wales or downsized “UK” as you call it.
I am reading the new Robert Tombs overall history or England and his broad picture of Scotland’s avarice and opportunism is an interesting viewpoint
