He understands the "natural born Citizen" mandate in our Constitution. And, by virtue of the 12th Amendment, the VP must also be a "natural born Citizen."
Nikki Haley, while a citizen, is not a natural born Citizen as her parents immigrated in 1969, and was born in the U.S. in 1972, 2 years prior to the 5 year requirement for her parents to be able to naturalize. She was born in the U.S. to foreign nationals here legally. [1]
Thus, she is ineligible to be VP.
