We already pay taxes for infrastructure. This congestion pricing is just a way to extort more tax money out of the driving taxpayers. Often it uses highway lanes that already built by taxpayers and are now going to be toll roads.

The reality around here is otherwise. What taxes, exactly, are you paying, and are you certain it’s anything more than paying for ongoing maintenance of existing infrastructure?

When an existing highway lanes starts to be tolled, it is typically a lane that has HOV restrictions at least part of the time. There are exceptions, such as with Texas 45 SE, south of Austin, in which a general-purpose highway built with gas taxes was then basically tolled from the get.
