It is really that simple. So simple all those “Excellent economists” cannot get it right.

You bring up an excellent point, and it's one that so-called diplomats fail to understand or talk around, or just need to complicate.

The point being that, keeping it simple is preferred over trying to be diplomatic about things, which then makes things overly-complicated. Simple matters like, stealing IP and getting rich off other people's/companies ideas, and not compensating them accordingly. That's worth at least a few hundred billion dollars a year, and that hurts the originators of the ideas and IP. It's not a matter of just trading and selling and making money. IN the long run, the theft of IP and ideas will be very hurtful to the victims, and the victims are not the Chinese in these cases.

That is it in a nutshell.

The theft of intellectual property is key, as is ownership of factories doing business in China.

If I understand it correctly, it was only recently that certain foreign based businesses were allowed to have more than 49% ownership in their ventures, and I still don’t know if that raising of the ceiling was uniform or only covered certain types of investment such as foreign ownership of joint venture fund management companies.

I don’t know if a tractor company wants to set up a factory in China to build tractors, if they still require a 51% Chinese holding to build and open the factory.

And that “concession” was likely due to Trump. Perhaps some other Freeper has a better understanding of this aspect and could explain it for us.

IP theft is certainly an issue, but equally large was the strategy of elite globalist American businessmen to either sell entire factories or move their production and product development to China. More US based knowledge and competitive advantage was sold to Chinese businessmen than was stolen by other Chinese businessmen.

The American businessmen who voluntarily sold out for short term gain didn't do our nation any favors.
