Holcomb was on his way back in April to Austin from Las Vegas after celebrating his birthday, but had a connecting flight in Phoenix.
He says he had an allergic reaction to a support dog belonging to another passenger.
American Airlines, in a statement, says it makes accommodations for dogs
American makes every effort to accommodate all passengers, including those traveling with and seated near service or support animals, a statement read.
Holcomb says the passenger offered to switch seats but after no one volunteered, a flight attendant and a pilot got involved.
Holcomb says he questioned why he had to move to the back of the plane.
At that point (workers) told him youre going to go to the rear of the plane or get off the plane,McKamie said.
Holcomb was taken off the plane after employees say he was confrontational, a claim he denies.

“It doesn’t make them sneeze.”
True, but it can cause them other maladies. Strange, since I’ve started traveling with it I’ve not had any seat mates, even in first class.
The “law of entitlement” in action. It’s going to be our undoing.
MY support and comfort animal is the Sumatran Rat Monkey.
1st World-level is public order...welcome to chaos.
Well put. Try being stranded for days with Spirit airlines slightly off the path of a hurricane two years ago. Im still traumatized. Not merely for that single experience but knowing it foreshadowed the direction greater society at large was going in as well. Spirit is unique in its awfulness but the whole business model of airlines these days..the cutting corners...the shoddiness...the catering to shareholders at the expense of basic customer service...and dont get me started on Boeing...
The above can be likened to how every major big city in America is run.
And so it begins...
Even though I travel first class, KI may not go to CA this Christmas simply because I so hate the whole airline experience.
NAACP meets Sorros... shakedown...
All these companies going Pc fuel this crap.
Eff antigun airlines.
Understandable. Would you have flown into LAX? And then get dropped into LA itself? Spare yourself.
But my better half is saying: no! You will miss out on seeing your family, flight is only a few hrs, and welcome to my state!
Yes I am not sure where the rights to have a service animal and the rights of an allergic person are going to come to terms.
I drive a taxi and I have to take any animal on board. I am fine with that. But what about my next customer who is really allergic to the cat you just had in the cab?
It isnt fair to the truly allergic.
I dont know what hes complaining about. He could have had a free pony ride in the back of the plane.
I believe allergies to dogs are far more common than people who need to take a dog on an airplane.
My position is this. If you need that dog to see for you, that's an acceptable reason. If you need that dog to help you face life, F*** you. Grow up. Put your big girl panties on and quit making everyone else put up with your unnecessary indulgence.
The man might be lying about a dog allergy, but there are a lot of people out there that actually have them, so I would give him the benefit of the doubt over someone who brought a dog to make them feel better about life.
Again, seeing eye dog wins the contest. All other animals do not.
Yeah, in the pressurized cargo compartment, not in the passenger cabin.
Service dogs on planes, yes, support dogs on planes, HELL NO, NEVER, NOT EVER.
Anyone can call any animal, dog horse or snake, a support animal. It is pure and total BS.
Service animals, seeing eye dogs, dogs that detect seizures diabetic incidents ect. actually perform a necessary function and are certified to do so. Part of the certification is how they socialize with other people around them.
Support animals are quite often the most obnoxious and spoiled animals on the face of the earthy.
I’m a long time dog trainer and handler and can not stand obnoxious spoiled dogs or the owners who justify or make excuses for their actions.
Keep your spoiled rotten dog at home where they belong.
And people didn't object when the flight crew insisted that they change their seats?
Veterans with verified PTSD. It does work.
Yup.
To a few of your points:
“Too many these days claim to have allergies which they don’t.”
I really do. Sometimes seems I’m allergic to half the world.
“Too many also have service animals which they don’t need.”
Yup. But some people do need them. A good friend raises golden retriever helper dogs for disabled people. It’s really incredible to see what those dogs do for their people.
“Too many get confrontational when there’s no need. Too many create events which to sue over.”
AGREED. I’d have just sucked it up. In fact have in the past. These people are just race baiting and looking for a payday. And this jerk will probably get a payday because the airline does not want the fight or the bad press. Sigh.
> Stupid airlines <
Like most other organizations, they fear the lawyers. A big, burly guy wants to use the womens changing room in your store. He identifies as a woman. So you better let him, or you could be ruined by a huge lawsuit.
A nervous woman wants to bring her support pit bull on your plane. She has a note from her doctor. So you better let her, or you could be ruined by a huge lawsuit.
“for the blind”... or other physically disabled. May add returning troops suffering from PTSD. Have seen that. It’s real and the animals really do help. They get a pass in my book. All others? BAN!
Kobe Bryant?
The dog that supports the blind is a highly trained and certified, SERVICE ANIMAL, not a support dog.
The same applies for dogs trained to detect seizures or diabetic incidents. They provide a medically needed service and are very well trained. That training and certification also includes socialization around other people.
A certified and medically necessary service dog is not a support dog that has no training standard or certification beyond maybe a paid for internet certificate.
I am a K-9 trainer, certified, and can not stand people and their spoiled rotten support dogs around my food or around me in any place that I pay to be.
