WATCH: Castro Insinuates Gun Owners Are Paranoid Believing The Government Can Become Tyrannical

Former Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary turned 2020 presidential candidate Julian Castro appears to be taking a play out of Sen. Kamala Harris' (D-CA) gun control playbook. Over the last few months, Harris has made it very clear that if elected president, she would give Congress 100 days to take up "common sense" gun legislation (translation: gun control). If they fail to act, she would use executive action to make her gun control agenda a reality.

During an interview on NBC News, Castro reiterated a similar position.

"If I were president right now I would do two things: first of all, I would maximize our executive authority to do what I can to keep our families safer from gun violence. For instance, we would immediately redefine who is a firearms dealer so that anyone who sells more than five firearms in a year is classified that way and has to conduct universal background checks," Castro said. "We would also push legislation in Congress to get common sense gun safety legislation done. [We would] put as much pressure as possible on swing state Republican senators who are up for re-election in 2020 to get them to go with something that we can compromise on, at least universal background checks. I think we can do more than that in the future."

Well goooolllllleeeeee julianne. The government becoming tyrannical? Never thought that. NOT! One word assclown. INFRINGED. Look it up. Seems like whole background check thing was a moot point in the Midland-Odessa incident. The POS perp even called the LEO folks to let them know.

Considering that his surname is the same the same as that of a tyrannical dictator is just wonderfully ironic.

Only Trump can become a tyrant. Never the benevolent Dems.

What this asshat fails to understand is that we KNOW who’s on the future tyrants list and it’s NOT anyone on the right.

One thing for certain is that when the government wants to impose gun control to protect the people, the people they want to protect are themselves. When they feel safe they will do things to take away all freedom.

Our domestic enemies are now overtly doubling down with impunity, thanks to the successes of their Generals Obama, Clinton, Comey, McCabe, etc.

What, you mean like Venezuela tyrannical? With like 8000+ political murders by the government so far this year? Why, that never happens! Certainly not in a socialist Sanders/Castro administration.

I venture the irony of such a statement coming from a person with his surname utterly escapes the obviously limited awareness this pit viper has.

I think it’s funny that a guy named “Castro” is running for president. When will someone named “Hitler” run?

Similar to what I mentioned in another post, is it just me or does it seem like there is some unspoken timetable that is behind this frantic attempt to disarm the public at large?

It's like these people know something is coming down the pike and are trying to defang the inevitable reaction.

All governments are run by people, and all people have the capacity and tendency to rationalize bad behavior - including becoming tyrants. Becoming tyrannical is the natural progression of governments - unless very strong checks and balances are built into the system such that tyranny can be ‘put down’ each and every time it raises its ugly head.

I wish someone would post ALL the gun laws that we have so everyone could see we DO NOT need any more gun laws! I would do it, but I have no idea how. Not that computer literate.

The fact of the matter is that there is not a politician in Washington, R or D, who would not be happy to see every American dis-armed.
