Increase mandatory sentencing for gun felons: Rather than violate the Constitution and needlessly strip peaceful citizens of the ability to protect themselves, how about we swiftly punish gun felons? The very same people who push gun control are the ones seeking to avoid locking up gun felons at all costs.

Thanks to Reagan’s Armed Career Criminal Act (ACCA), we actually deterred violent criminals with stiff mandatory sentencing. The RNC or the NRA should compile and report the number of weekly homicides in the top ten U.S. democrat controlled cities. Obviously the MSM will ignore the reports so they should be publicized on the Internet. Don’t even try on Facebook or Twitter unless you want your account suspended (hmm, not a bad idea).
“Gun violence” ends instantly when Human Violence ends. So far, I have not heard a single gun control advocate call for working to end human violence. The same people who are quick to say not to blame all Muslims or Blacks for terror or crime are equally quick to blame all law abiding gun owners when someone commits an act like these mass killings.
Imo, as a retired peace officer, an ADDITIONAL sentence of 10-20 years should be levied on every criminal, who commits or attempts any violent felony, while possessing ANY DANGEROUS WEAPON & such additional sentence to be served in full & FIRST, before beginning any other sentence for other crimes that they may have been convicted of.

There was a 14 year old who killed his entire family yesterday. He shot them with a 9mm handgun.
10 kids were shot at a high school football game last week.
God knows how many were shot in Chicago over the long weekend.
This has nothing to do with politics, parties, or any of that crap. Until everyone gets a grip on that, the arguments will just go back and forth.

The Promise Program in Broward County, Florida (and elsewhere ?) replaced the Rule of Law.
The point of the Promise Program was to not arrest criminals of the protected class (if Barry had a son) , so as to increase federal money and thereby higher salaries to bureaucrats.
What are the consequences for a convicted felon or a person adjudged mentally unfit or committed involuntarily to a mental institution, when they attempt to buy a firearm illegally but are stopped by the background check system?
As far as I know, NOTHING is ever done to follow up. So the would-be buyer learns to make a private purchase from an owner or thief, or to steal a gun himself. Lying on the federal form is illegal (prosecuted 1 in a million times at best). Is an attempt to purchase by a prohibited buyer even illegal of itself? This seems like something that could be investigated via computer, with the more dangerous cases and nuts triaged and subjected to a phone call or visit. Local police should be notified when criminals and mentally ill people are trying to arm up.
In the Odessa case, a neighbor complained about the future murderer sitting on his roof firing at night, and coming to her door carrying an AR. Absent darn good night vision equipment, it is inherently reckless to fire in the dark in a somewhat inhabited, flat, open area like this guy lived in. Yet the police who received the complaints apparently did not check the databases that would have id’ed this guy as prohibited from possessing firearms. I know that police have limited resources, and that firing guns in a rural area isn’t even illegal so long as no one is being threatened with harm. Seems like some clarification of laws, and actually enforcing the law would avert some of these massacres.

That is no surprise, since he defended pro bono Lon Horiuchi, who murdered Vicki Weaver as she stood on her porch at Ruby Ridge with her daughter, not a rifle, in her arms.
Horiuchi never repented, and took part at Waco. Barr never recanted, and is now AG for a second time.

There was actually NO EFFECT on mass shootings, during the decade that Clinton’s assault weapon ban was in force. Even the Clinton admin studied, and confirmed that.
In fact, our WORST gun violence peaked during Clinton’s AW ban.
Rand Paul should put together a movement of libertarians, populists, and assorted anyone who makes a big distinction between violent and non-violent criminals... meaning those who are truly non-violent and didn’t plea-bargain away a weapon, which often happens.
Criminals using weapons need to be isolated away from those who do not use weapons. And all weapons need to be classified together.
