Carrie Lam has withdrawn the bill that triggered mass protests, confirming earlier reports from the South China Morning Post, Cable TV and online news portal HK01.

The action may diffuse the protests, but the fact remains that Hong Kong is ruled by China
Good. Now she needs to resign.
The proposed extradition law is the symbol of the conflict between the CCP and the people of Hong Kong. This is but one of the 5 demands the people of Hong Kong are making. Perhaps the most important is their commitment to rule of law rather than the CCP’s system of “Rule by Law.”
The only remaining cadre in the US who support the CCP are the stock brokers who benefit by selling worthless China bonds to unsuspecting clients.
Right and apparently it’s not officially withdrawn yet. I love these HK people.
Yuge victory.
The protesters love America far more than our despicable dems.
Xi blinks
For the moment, Shanghai streets do not exhibit symptoms of the disease
“Be the America Hong Kongers believe you to be...”
I thought she had done that at the beginning, although maybe she just put it on hold?
Anyway, I agree, this is a big deal. I really hope it’s enough to quell the protesters, because there are limits to China’s patience with them, and there is no one capable of helping those people, anymore than their was at Tienanmen Square back then.
I believe that is exactly what happened.
It was put on hold. NOT withdrawn. Put on hold.
This seems like a real turnaround. And this was what really started things there. I think this is a real reversal.
Maybe this will indeed turn things around in HK.
That would be GREAT! Hopefully it works out and they can go back to living relatively free there, at least for a while.
