He probably panicked. You hear about things like that happening all the time, unfortunately, in all types of stressful situations. If he was mentally ill (and Im not clear on that), could have something to do with it too.
The whole situation is very sad for all parties. People are too quick to blame the guy that drove the car and completely absolve Heather from any and all responsibility. She played a part in this as well. She was not an innocent bystander. Had that mob succeeded in dragging the guy from his car and beating him to a bloody pulp, the powers that be would have blamed him for being there Either way, the carnage that is left behind for the families I just cant imagine.
