“Is there any value in fake cigarettes? No.”

You decided for all 300 Million, or just your opinion?

“Should they be legal? No.”

Isn’t this exactly backwards? Do you believe the starting position is EVERYTHING is illegal and only that which the government allows should be legal?

I bet you believe all money belongs to the government except what we are allowed to keep. /s

Probably should have typed, “And the FDA allows diacetyl in vaping products?”

When the left says "national discussion" what they mean is:

We will use the mass media to tell you what to think.

Then we will use the legislature to tell you what to do.

F___ you, citizen!

I’m guessing this one will turn out to be caused by a bad vap pipes or some bad mix. It will be traced back to a single source.

Sorry, I just cannot feel sorry for someone doing something that end up being the cause of his own death.

He’s a victim of his own stupidity.

My doctor made me quit smoking seven years ago, so I started vaping. Much to the dismay of many, I’m still here.

I know a man who does cigarette testing for the CDC. There are thousands of chemicals in cigarettes. Many are formed by interaction with each other as the intense heat breaks them down. For starters, every keytone in the book are present. It degrades from there. He has even separated nerve agents similar to VX.

Many of the “contaminates” are manufactured in the eCig by the heater.

The “vape crisis” is one being massaged and promoted by Big Tobacco.

Your first statement throws doubt on what may be good info to follow. Big tobacco is heavily invested in vaping; they are the biggest players. I worked as a leader on our Hazmat team for many years. People have different tolerances to chemical agents. But your lungs are one of the quickest way to get many types of chemicals into your bloodstream. I am sure that many of the popular ingredients have not been tested on human subjects with this route of exposure. I have read that in addition to vitamin e one of the primary ingredients that seems to be associated with the deaths and severe illnesses are derived from marijuana.

Wow - he had chronic lung issues and his demise was “possibly tied to vaping”...
I still need to quit actual cigarettes but probably get less nicotine than a LOT of vapers....seen such huge clouds of vape smoke coming out of car windows it looked like there had to be a raging fire going on in there....bet they can tweak them things to give whole cigarette doses in one toke...

Step aside from reviewing the "process" of the vaping materials (the pellets or whatever), and consider the power invested in Big Tobacco's billions paid in federal tax revenue giving them leverage at the "legislative table". This is what was the goals for creating Bur. of Alc, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives--- from that perspective. The phrase from history (can't remember who is credited with it) is: "If one can tax a thing he can control a thing"-- hence the use of "tax laws" to control things that are societal unhealthy or even deadly things-- for a "greater good". A quote from Thomas Paine sums up my point in the observation about "Big Tobacco" (and I understand yours as a Hazmat responder)-- that this is being manipulated: "It is from the power of taxation being in the hands of those who can throw so great a part of it from their own shoulders, that it has raged without a check.” ― Thomas Paine, Rights of Man Having business friends in the biggest tobacco state-NC- who are in the lobbying game-- can tell you that Tobacco wants to be the only way people could be "hooked" on nicotine. Their investment is to study how they could acquire the vape business-- just as they have moved into the "marijuana legalization" moves by investing in Big Cannabis (whose chief lobbyist is, btw, John-alkie-Boehner).

You are kind of making it up as you go. Big Tobacco has spent over $20 BILLION investing in the vaping business. That is more than just "studying"... that is relocating their business. I do not necessarily disagree with most of what you have said, but when you start with easily disproved nonsense... it casts doubt on your following statements..

No- not making it up- it is what is happening, and not happy about it at all, from a clinical perspective (pharmacology/biochemistry/forensics).

20 billion is minor compared to the cannabis investment upside— and they are heavy into that, as you have observed. FWIW i have excellent sources in regards to vaping patents and marijuana cigarettes/vaping — it is the intent of the “legalization” cannabis effort of several large tobacco firms lobbyists to dominate the pot market, at the same time take back world market losses due to the advent of vaping of nicotine salts in particular. This includes Phillip Morris, Lorillard, and RJ Reynolds, whose warehouses in Brazil friends witnessed stocked with shrink wrapped pallets of cannabis, stacked to the ceiling in temperature controlled rooms ready for cigarette rolling machines. Not hemp, Not CBD only varietals the Israelis have patented—but high THC marijuana)

Here’s one example from last year: https://learnaboutsam.org/altria-philip-morris-big-tobacco-investing-in-marijuana/

And this, about juul,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juul#Investors

35%/12 Billion invested/owned by Altria/Phillip Morris. Have a real problem with the super concentration of nicotine salts, the glycerin, propylene glycol and flavorings-— there was and is no consideration of marketing this as something to be be used to stop smoking. It’s just the opposite, and has its eyes spot on with the fraud that is “medical marijuana”. Have been castigated here by a lot of people who don’t know any pharmacology at all, nor the actual trials, in re: CBD oil for vaping.... vs. the fraud that is THC/marijuana has having “clinical value”. It doesn’t- CBD/hemp does. Gonna stop here— the clinical data are incontrovertible, especially on the genetic mapped regions in re: schizophrenia markers and is why the DEA still has marijuana/THC as a Schedule I agent.

It is RJ Reynolds (and several others) who get their burley tobacco (for chewing tobacco) not from US growers anymore— but from Zimbabwe (and for decades the corrupt commie Mugabe raked off the concessions to his Swiss accounts). Just amazing the lengths they will go for a buck. All for now. Appreciate your comments.

The first few deaths REPORTED included cannabis.

Of course, only clean air should enter the lungs (as you said), but too many youngsters are introduced to cannabis by their young peers. It used to be tobacco, but our future is one of lazy decadence and under-achievement.
