The latest Marquette Law School poll should serve as a warning to President Donald Trump and encourage more Republicans to support reasonable limits on guns.
Trump is trailing his top Democratic challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, by 9 percentage points — 42 percent to 51 percent — among registered voters in Wisconsin, a crucial swing state in the 2020 election. And based on several questions about gun control in the statewide survey, the Republican president’s inaction on mass shootings isn’t helping his reelection chances.
According to the Marquette poll released last week:
81 percent of respondents in Wisconsin favor “red flag” laws, allowing police to take guns from people who have been found by a judge to be a danger to themselves or others. 80 percent support expanded background checks on private gun sales, including at gun shows. 57 percent support a ban on assault-style weapons.

It’s so nice of the Wuss State Journal to try to help President Trump. Fortunately, Trump is a leader, not a follower, and he is leading in the direction of obeying the Constitution of the United States.

The Marquette LAW SCHOOL should read and understand what the Constitution says some day.
It would be interesting to see how these same people would answer questions like “passing more laws will only affect law abiding citizens and not criminals, agree or disagree” or “law abiding citizens should not lose their guns because of the actions of criminals, agree or disagree”.
It would also not be surprising that if a research and methodology class were to take the questions asked in these polls that firearms prohibitionists and their allies in the Democrat Party and the media like to quote in articles like these and find that the questions are so heavily biased in their construction, that if a student were to submit those questions as part of a class assignment, they would likely receive a failing grade.
I took a poll of latinos and they overwhelmingly oppose abortion. Democrats should listen.
I took a poll of blacks and they overwhelmingly oppose teaching LGBTQ in schools. Democrats should listen.
But they don’t.
Democrats demand obedience to whatever position the party takes at that time.
If the Democratic Party position changes, obedience to the new position is mandatory.
I hate to tell them but, even if true (which I question), being behind Biden by 9 points at this stage of the 2020 election is actually good news. One or two appearances in Wisconsin will erase that margin in a hurry. Trump will carry Wisconsin by at least 5%.
....agree.... and just how are “assault-style weapons” defined...? if it is painted black, has a pistol grip, uses a magazine, and overall looks scary, that’s an assault-style weapon....??? as we used to say many years ago in the military, these people don’t know s**t from Shinola.....

Madistan is to Wisconsin just like Minneapolistan is to Minnesota. Two different worlds.
I live one suburb away from Minneapolistan and going there is like entering a foreign country.
The left scares people into thinking that an AR-15 is automatic and can shoot hundreds of rounds a minute and you can go to a dealer at a gun show and buy 10 of them with cash, no background check. It is hard to get someone who is afraid of guns to listen to simple facts rather than emotional propaganda.

.......your observation is spot on.... and recall Sleepy Joe Biden’s recent observation that magazines “that hold hundreds of bullets [sic]” should be banned....again, these dimbulbs do NOT know what they are talking about...I have aquaintences who still believe the “AR” in AR-15 stands for “assault rifle.” They have NO clue... AR-15; M-16... all the same to them...

This is how our Republic will end, with people being "Red Flagged" into either jail or into submission.
Make no mistake: "Red Flag" laws are now the laws in many states, and they will keep expanding. The Left has finally discovered their panacea against that nasty Constitution.
Almost every Democrat presidential candidate has stated, on camera, that if they get into power, they will "Executive Order" the making illegal and confiscation of firearms.
And whether Trump has 5 years left, or only 1, we will eventually face a hostile presidency very shortly.

I doubt it - but even if true, I say "No" to more gun laws under Trump the same as I would say "No" to more gun laws under a Democrat.
Very skewed poll when you research the data. They are doing their best to sway the public but I think that ship has sailed. Crowd size matters and as the Trumpster packs them in it is a very good indicator.
