The Bahamas are a tricky situation. It's an independent nation since 1973. Until then it was part of the British Empire. I think they have their own laws of succession, but still are somehow connected to the British monarchy. The island nation is not far off the coast of Florida, and its port and economy are closely tied to Miami.

Freeport was (until now) an excellent cruise port. The people are very nice, and the tourism offerings provide for a very nice day.

It's not our job. But we've gathered the supplies in anticipation of a US hurricane hit, so it just makes sense to supply them. Bahamians are appreciating the help more than PR has. Another source of aid is a cruise ship which is providing food and supplies and ferrying people to safety.

It's the overall situation we should be concerned with. Venezuela is still in chaos, the Amazon is burning, and nothing is happening that makes Central America more livable. It's past time for the US to bring home the troops from all over the world and re-direct our resources to making the Caribbean, Central America, and South America livable. Unless/until that happens, we cannot save the US from the chaos surrounding us.

Exactly. I wouldn't have much of an issue with a bit of logistical support, but other than that, it's strictly a Brit problem.
