Chinas exports unexpectedly fell in August as shipments to the United States slowed sharply...
Beijing is widely expected to announce more support measures in coming weeks to avert the risk of a sharper economic slowdown as the United States ratchets up trade pressure, including the first cuts in some key lending rates in four years.
On Friday, the central bank cut banks reserve requirements for a seventh time since early 2018 to free up more funds for lending, days after a cabinet meeting signalled that more policy loosening may be imminent...
Chinas August exports to the United States fell 16% year-on-year, slowing sharply from a decline of 6.5% in July. Imports from America slumped 22.4%.
Many analysts expect export growth to slow further in coming months, as evidenced by worsening export orders in both official and private factory surveys. More U.S. tariff measures will take effect on Oct. 1 and Dec. 15.

Increase the tariffs some more, we still have a long way to go.
And our export numbers to them sucked already so we can take a hit that THEY cannot.
Plus being a REAL capitalist country, one finds ways to make money and jobs if the gubmint stays out of the way
God bless Donald Trump!
Walmarts shelves are still full. They stocked Halloween junk right after July 4, and Christmas stuff the end of August.

and yet exports from China to the U.S. still fell 6.5% in July ...
We have a warrior president..not the unplanned, misguided wars of George W. This one knows what he is doing.
Apparently CNBC was the only one who didn't expect this.
Meanwhile manufacturing in the USA is up.
And it’s imports, from everyone, fell a lot.
They can’t keep it up, they’re running a Ponzi scheme.
Supply chains don’t move immediately, but when they do, change will be relentless.
Good. Would be nice to see a 90% drop by the end of the year.
Damnit! Now where will I find a plastic shelving with lead paint produced by underage workers who put in a 16-hour day at now?
Search the keyword “jobs” here to see proof.
Good. Trump is really playing hardball with these jerks, which is great because he has a once in a lifetime opportunity to maintain US global leadership. If he can’t do it, we can all say hello to our new Chinese masters and join the EU and the rest of the world that has already accepted them.
No other candidate - R or D - would have done any of this. Not one bit of it!
Think about that. Then think about him doing it without any help from Congress or even much of his own party.
This is what a historic President looks like.
i don’t like ‘trade wars’ but we have to get our trading relations fixed if we’re gonna keep trading with communist China (yes, I realize that’s another whole topic, but anyway for now...for here...) if PDJT has to do this to get the communist Chinese’s attention, to get them to negotiate a fairer deal with USA...... then OK it has to be done
they aren’t gonna just give us anything much, and they’re so used to the super-profitable trading arrangement they’ve got now...they may really need to be shown we mean business... before they agree to anything fairer for America
Unexpectedly fell.
Liars and fools, all of them.

“Increase the tariffs some more”
You and the President seem to think alike.
From the article: “More U.S. tariff measures will take effect on Oct. 1 and Dec. 15.”
I anticipate yet another round of tariffs to be imposed early next year (maybe 1 January), to take the tariffs on communist Chinese goods to 25 or 30% across the board.
If so, and if they stay in place (no deal), then by the election, other suppliers will have been substituted for most of what communist China now sells us.
The packing tape I used to buy in WalMart now says, “Made in Malaysia.”
It used to be made in China.
Are some of WalMart’s suppliers relocating to avoid the tarrifs? Time will tell.
