Supreme Court Authorizes Trump to Deny Asylum to Central Americans
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept. 11, 2019

The Trump administration can deny asylum to Central Americans who cross through to the U.S., the Supreme Court said Wednesday, giving new life to White House efforts to deter a flood of immigrants seeking refuge at the southern border.

The policy, one of several measures the Trump administration has taken to deter immigration from Latin America, demands that refugees seek asylum in a safe country they enter before reaching the U.S.

The rules effectively cut off most asylum claims by people coming from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, filed a dissent.

“Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, filed a dissent.”

Thank you RINOs!!! Without your votes, virtually none of Trump’s decent judges would have ever made it to the courts, any of them and Obama’s judges would still control those courts.

Actually, they never had the right to stay here while their claims are processed, only Central Americans, due to guilt-trip legislation that Bush Jr. signed in 2007 (I think). I suspect that they figured with all the confusion on the Southern Border, they’d be able to get in anyway

She’s not just any Latina. She’s a “wise Latina”, who because of the breadth of her life experience, can come up with better decisions in court, to paraphrase what she said about being a wise Latina.

“A Latina and a Communist disapprove.”

And their dissent is a piece of work. No mention of any laws or the constitution. They simply state that vulnerable people from Central America should be allowed in because they think it’s the right thing to do.

Key that is lost in the news, even among Freepers, is that Breyer and Kagan approved. This is a 7-2 ruling.

I hope this case is a giant shot across the bow, to the liberals who continually seek nationwide injunctions against the legal executive actions of this president.

I recall in the opinion by Justice Thomas on the travel ban case, he mentioned how the Supreme Court should look at these injunctions being issued against presidential actions, and how they are preventing a president from exercising lawful authority.

So perhaps the Supreme Court, in this case a 7-2 vote, with even some liberals agreeing on the legal principle that we should not see pre-emptive injunctions against an executive action, will stamp out this nonsense of the liberals finding a single liberal judge somewhere to block Trump’s actions.

The Supreme Court didn’t authorize anything.

They slapped down the Ninth Circuit.

“The rules effectively cut off most asylum claims by people coming from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras.”

That could only be true if their claims were not justified.

That’s cool! Should have reinforcements behind him though. But it’s accurate - he’s doing this by himself for the most part.
