On Thursday, 10 Democratic candidates took the stage for the third debate in the 2020 race for the White House. And let’s just say, crazy town is at full capacity with this crew and the policies they support.
You name the problem—genuine or overblown—and they have a big government program or initiative that will fix it. At least, that’s what they claim. The candidates had many opportunities to highlight them during the three-hour primetime spectacle.
First up on the docket was healthcare—a topic that continues to be a focus of policy discussions in the primary, and rightly so. Healthcare in the U.S. is not perfect and rising costs continue to pose a threat to the health and safety of many Americans. However, there’s no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater; our doctors and hospitals currently offer the best healthcare in the world.

The problem is NOT healthcare, it is healthcare INSURANCE.
The concept of INSURANCE was started between 3000 and 2000 BC {that's 4000-5000 years ago} and has existed and thrived because it was based on shared risk.
The higher the risk, the higher the cost of insurance, ergo, real insurance can have no 'pre-existing conditions' unless the cost is commensurate with the risk.
The politicians have screwed the 'healthcare insurance business' into a maze of regulations, based on kickbacks, donations, and political hack jobs for friends and relatives, that it is no longer insurance.
If you compare the efficient way that auto insurance works based on statistics and risks and type of coverage, the same model could work for any type of insurance, except for politicians and their grubby hands in the pot of gold.
Pre-exisitng conditions in healthcare insurance is similar to a bad driver that has to go into the "high risk pool" because of his record, {I know, I was in the pool, paying $7,000 a year in the 70's when the regular, good drivers were paying $300-500/year for similar coverage}.
I earned those high costs based on my record, the same way, someone at age 55 with bad health should have to pay more than a 26 year old kid in excellent health.
