Trump: US locked and loaded for response to attack on Saudis

A weekend drone attack on Saudi Arabia that cut into global energy supplies and halved the kingdom’s oil production threatened Sunday to fuel a regional crisis, as the U.S. released new evidence to back up its allegation that Iran was responsible for the assault amid heightened tensions over Tehran’s collapsing nuclear deal.

President Donald Trump said the U.S. had reason to believe it knew who was behind the attack — his secretary of state had blamed Iran the previous day — and assured his Twitter followers that “we are ... locked and loaded” depending on verification and were waiting to hear from the Saudis as to who they believe was behind the attack and “under what terms we would proceed!”

"W’s mistake in going into Iraq, a country that had absolutely nothing at all to do with 9/11 has no bearing whatsoever on Iran."

Except to begin to isolate Iran. Iraq flew some of its aircraft into Iran during the first Gulf War. Iran threatened to destroy the U.S.A., if U.S. forces destroyed those aircraft. Iran has since trained Islamist troops including Sunnis and exported IEDs and other weapons to Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries. A neighbor of mine with the same MOS I had was wounded by one of those Iranian bucket IEDs.

I say, "Finish it!" Take that last step. Then denazify Iran, as was done in Germany.

Rumsfeld, like Bush, was tangled up in his own Constitution-Free socialist quagmire of power.

"Cannot the Sauds defend themselves with weapons we sold them?"

Not alone. We've allowed Iran's buildup with the help of its commie friends go on for too long for that to happen. Saudi won't need to go it alone anyway. Among other things, the world economy depends too much on oil for Saudi nations to allowed to be isolated in the face of attacks from the new axis countries.

Besides, according to Iran, the U.S.A. is "the Great Satan," and Iran has long and frequently made its intentions to annihilate the U.S.A. all too clear. And we're not going to willingly allow Iran to mount nukes. If Iran does get nukes mounted by then, the job of taking it down will only be rougher for everyone with the nuclear exchanges that would follow.

Saudi Arabia has led the world’s nations in buying weapons in the last two years. Surely they can do a decent job of defending their own oil supply without have us jump in.

A bunch of sources on the internet...some for/against. But really interesting information about Saudi buying up huge amounts of weapons from us.

"But what if through (globalist?) manipulation we are forced into a war that Americans don’t want? Would President Trump lose quite a bit of support? Even lose the election?"

If that happens, Democrats will finish the job more extensively while turning the U.S.A. into more of a war machine. Democrats tend to allow problems to metastasize a little more elsewhere (while making plans) before leading the U.S.A. to more thoroughly destroy enemy nations. Democrats also tend to favor thorough revisions of foreign cultures. Democrats only complain about collateral damage, when they are not in charge of our military forces. If they are in charge, they don't care about collateral damage.

Really, Republicans tend to favor warnings and earlier, smaller military actions for the purpose of avoiding larger wars.

Agreed on U.S. energy independence. Arid, Democrat western and northeastern states should host more nuclear power plants in suburbs.

"Rumsfield worked in an administration..."

Rumsfeld (you can't even spell his name, let alone understand his strategies) actually executed a brilliant strategy to defeat Iraq's military, and had nothing to do with refugees. Rumsfeld's "failure" was lack of an "occupation plan" for an occupation that never should have happened, and the blame for our failures in Iraq and Afghanistan rest with GW Bush and his foolish nation building goals in both conflicts.

You haven’t heard a lot about this in the MSM because it happened Saturday night, and the reporters have not had a chance to get the narratives from their political handlers. Should be top story this afternoon. My guess narrative will be war mongering, unstable Trump rushes to protect Saudi friends, personal business interests.

We have Federal judges issuing injunctions to block the construction of new oil pipelines right here in the U.S. Waging war to protect this “critical worldwide commodity” halfway around the world while we allow this crap to go on here is a pathetic display of hypocrisy.

Dude, he’s not a god. And if you’re wondering why anyone would question the wisdom and integrity of those around him, just look at the laundry list of jackasses who he has already fired in less than three years on the job.

You're probably 100% correct.

I see the concern trolls who think Iran isn’t plotting to do us actual damage have their panties all twisted up fretting about whether we send Iran a ‘message”...

It wasn’t the people in his party. It was Avigdor Lieberman of the russian Yisroael Beytanu party who refused to join a coalition which would have have given Bibi a majority in the knesset.

It is pretty frightening what damage drones can do now. Cheap effective terrorism.

Your analysis was spot on. Now if we permit the interruption of commerce in the Gulf, the Chinese will act to close off trade routes in much of the South China Sea. And on it will go until the internationally approved law of the sea is made a hollow shell.

The silence of the Democrats in all this is deafening. I haven’t even seen a single reference to U.S. Middle East affairs in any of the reports I’ve read about the Democratic debates.

Congress has the Constitutional power to declare war, not the President. Yes, the silence on the part of the demoncraps who control it should be a big red flag for President Trump.

If there is to be a military strike, let President Trump go to congress and ask for a Constitutional declaration of same. If we go to war, let it be with an America united for the cause.

Otherwise, let the saudis spend their own treasure and blood responding to the attack. As another Freeper suggested, we can provide them with intelligence and spare parts for their F-15s.

Great idea.

Start by building them next to the homes of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Senator Kamala Harris of California.

26 years in the military I thought you would understand your place better. You work for those civilians. I understand the downside of being subject to constraints as a result, and I agree you need support and certain freedom to win in battle, but reality is you serve a civilian leadership that is sometimes fickle. 17 years ago I thought we did the correct thing toppling Iraq but all that blood was squandered by leadership that didn’t have the stomach for the long haul or total war. That said I agree Iran needs a swatting as well. But rightfully so, after 18 years in afghanistan, people aren’t convinced it makes a difference. I know it does but one also has to acknowledge the cost.

You want support for action, I said make convincing arguments, not rants.
