WASHINGTON (AP) Six weeks after a pair of mass shootings killed more than 30 people, Congress remains "in a holding pattern" on gun control as lawmakers await proposals from the White House, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.
While President Donald Trump has said he would veto a House-passed bill to expand background checks for gun purchases, McConnell said Tuesday he is hopeful there are other gun-related proposals that Congress can approve and Trump can support.
Trump and White House aides have discussed a number of gun control measures with members of Congress, including steps to go after fraudulent buyers, notify state and local law enforcement when a potential buyer fails a background check, issue state-level emergency risk protection orders, boost mental health assistance and speed up executions for those found guilty of committing mass shootings.
Trump hopes to reveal something on gun control to the American public "very soon," White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said Tuesday. The White House expects the gun proposal later this week or early next week, according to a person familiar with the administration's thinking.

remains "in a holding pattern"
Me too!
Mayor Bippy McBikepath of Pittsburgh had a meeting with McConnell and came back frowning and whining that Mitch told him he would not present any bill for a vote unless Trump first guaranteed he would sign it.
This is all going nowhere.
Bump!
If he must be forced (unlikely) to make a gesture, then I say round up all of the gang-bangers and hoodlums in Chicago, Baltimore, Philly, LA, Oakland, SF, Seattle, St. Louis, and every other sh!thole city where they’re a problem, as well as their ill-gotten guns and other assorted weapons, money and drugs... then we re-evaluate the need for further measures regarding “gun control” afterwards.
I cannot stand when you tell me, “I told you so.”
It’s worse when you don’t actually say it, too.

More cheery news!
Democrats have taught. The GOP the delay game
Why do we have to keep having arguments on their terms? There should be no holding pattern. There should not have even been a take off. Swimming pools kill more people than rifles every year.
We should offer the Democrats an opportunity to save a million Americans every year with some commonsense abortion safety laws, and when they refuse, we can say it’s because they’re bloodthirsty savages who couldn’t give a sh#t about saving lives.
GUNS SAVE LIVES (Republican)
GUN CONTROL KILLS (Democrat)
That is what will happen. Trump will put something on the table that will contain poison pills the Democrats will never accept and they’ll walk away from the table.
Until the country starts to get less STOOOOOOPID that’s the only way to play it I’m afraid.
You better hope Aaron Carter doesn’t go on a killing rampage because the signs are there they need to take his 6 guns

I stand in amazement at how Trump handled the passions of this latest push.
By not issuing a definitive yes or no to any one policy, and indicating he would do something, he kept everyone at the table.
Now that the passions have subsided, he can give them nearly nothing. And they’ll take it.
It’s done on every car lot and every business transaction in the world, every day.
And the commies just got had.
If guy goes "shooter" after release, sue the doctor and hospital and shooter (If alive) who testified he was not a threat . Problem will slowly go away over time

Art of the Deal by our outsider President. Love it.
If it violates the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, it’s DOA!
