Netanyahu’s only chance to remain prime minister is by making sure that his potential coalition partners don’t start wandering over to Blue and White’s side. The way to make sure they don’t do that is to promise he will stay with them and not follow what seems like the more obvious path to a coalition, to reach across the aisle himself.

If he can’t build a national unity government to his liking where he remains its head, he can opt to remain head of a strong minority government.
The PM is showing his opponents he still has more seats than them. They have only 44 and has 56.
56 still counts for more than 44 and its worth even more than an elusive 61.

Netanyahu needs to take all measures orthodox, unorthodox and ultra-orthodox to stay in power.

There’s no guarantee they could win them. And Lieberman won’t support a Kachol Lavan government dependent on the Arabs.
At the moment, 56 is a lot more than 44 or even 32. As long as Netanyahu and his partners stick together, they can keep power.
So then they do elections again, right? This time the right may vote more and the left less. People get tired of voting like this.
The good news is this slows down gov’t screwing up stuff...this is their version of gridlock and a split congress.
