Its clearly not my time, said the mayor (who polled a huge zero and couldnt raise enough small money to make the debate stage.) Im going to continue my work as mayor (said the man who installed the 7 hour per month work schedule in City Hall).
Predictably, the de Blasio campaign couldnt break into single digits in the polls zero is only technically a number, after all and the wonder of it is that he even tried. The effort presented new opportunities for those with business before City Hall to show their affection for the mayor in concrete terms. This also has been important to the administration and no doubt Blaz is studying ways to refresh the relationship.
The mayor's campaign meant that he had a taller rostrum from which to denounce Donald Trump the first New Yorker to live in the White House since Franklin D. Roosevelt. This gnaws unmercifully on Empire State Democrats and while theres no evidence that de Blasio actually believes what he says, about Trump or anything else, chewing on the presidents leg diverts attention from the administrations numerous failures. So there was some utility there after all.
Now de Blasio has only dreams of what might have been and memories of those 10-person campaign crowds; his mortifying invisibility in the polls; his irrelevance in the cattle-call debates; his virtual inability to raise a legitimate dime, and the rip-saw ridicule he suffered in the media.
Normal New Yorkers are left with this question: How can the fellow even look into the mirror in the morning?

His election coffers are now bursting. For him its a win-win.
DeBlasio’s attitude with respect to his own performance as a Presidential candidate has been pretty much identical to Oberlin College’s response to the jury verdict in the case brought against it by Gibson’s Bakery, at least until now.
De Blasio is slightly more realistic, although I suspect that has more to do with his running out of Other People’s Money than with any circumspection on his part; Oberlin still has an ample supply of OPM, and so can continue to live the dream.
What a joke. He never intended to be president. He did it to boost his ego and to rake in money. Politicians suck. They have created a system that lets them get rich, and the public is too stupid to put a stop to it.
Nice take......I like the Oberlin comparison.
She mislaid a billion in tax funds for mental health
city programs so she's perfect for a federal office.
I thought his campaign was kool.
Very cosmopolitan. Which might have worked in IA NH SC

Devastating. He was our last, best hope
The blind leading the blind....pretty much describes modern usa political scene...philosophically wise. Relatively few really get it.
BOL....good one.
That line has got to leave a mark......
He lies as easily as the Clintons......
Last week Tucker had him on (before the drop-out).....it was impossible to make sense of anything DeB said.
Tucker asked him if polling zero would make him drop-out......DeBlob swore he was staying in.
His wife was a dyke and he turned her. Respect.
Thats one way to look at it.
