President Jed Bartlet, you were just too good for us.
It has long been known that liberals hold the television show The West Wing in a high esteem that feeds into their fantasies, especially in times where cold reality has not exactly gone as they (and creator Aaron Sorkin) would have hoped. And this fantasy will only be intensified since this is the twentieth anniversary of the show's premiere. Another reason for liberals to fantasize ever more deeply in the parallel liberal world of The West Wing is obviously due to the the one they consider to be the intruder in the real world West Wing, President Donald Trump.
The September 20 Vanity Fair article by Sonya Saraiya, "How The West Wing Briefly Made Democrats Into TV Winners," reveals how liberals continue looking upon that show as a source of solace over the years and especially now in the midst of the Trumpocalypse.

Isn’t that one reason why they brought back Murphy Brown? These same sorts of people longing for the days when that many more people trusted ones like Dan or Tom or Peter or Diane and Charlie and Bryant and Katie and the rest of their ilk.
Life imitating “art”.
The problem is the liberals, the Democrats live in an alternate World, and never come up for air.
Wow 20 years!!!!! Happy to say never watched one episode.
I can forgive the Lefties for this. 24 and Justified will always have a warm place in my heart....
Ditto. But here in the Silly-con Valley I have to hear from libs all the time who presume I knew each episode by heart.
I’m surprised they didn’t try to spin Téa Leoni’s “Madame Secretary” into an alternate universe for liberals where Hillary won.
My bourbon consumption went WAY UP after watching “Justified.”
How desperate do you have to be to work for Variety and write about a 20 year old network TV show....
That seems to be what it’s about. They even have Leoni dressing like the Butcheress from what commercials I’ve seen. They’re so transparent.
Done. According to a promo, this season starts with Madam Secretary as the newly elected president of the United States.
I can get Blanton’s but, sadly, no Pappy’s...
Didn’t Elaine rise to the Presidency in VEEP?
Took but a few episodes of that show to ‘remove’ it from my ‘list’.
Never got into 24 but Justified a different story, also ‘Hell On Wheels’ was a decent one and ‘Fargo’ but are few and far between...had hopes for ‘Better Call Saul’ but they are taking forever to get anywhere....
None of the historical dishonesty on The West Wing compares, however, to the bizarro world of Madam Secretary which was originally conceived as a way to get Hillary elected. Fortunately for America and unfortunately for any semblance of an interesting storyline, Hillary has retreated into her private hell and the show seems to jump the shark every week.
As did my twin convictions that Kentucky is no place for this yankee, and drinking out of a mason jar is bad for your health.
Yes, the TV has been blatantly pro-Hillary for a long time.
West Wing, Mad. Secretary, The Hand Maidens Tail, etc. etc. etc.
