Trump hopes 'they release' his call with Ukraine's president, in which (trunc)

Amid calls from Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden, for the White House to release a transcript of a call between President Donald Trump and the president of Ukraine, Trump told reporters he talked about both Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, because of "all of the corruption taking place."

On a July 25 call with President Vladimir Zelensky, Trump asked the Ukraine leader to investigate Hunter eight times, multiple news outlets reported Friday, citing intelligence sources. Now, Trump says he hopes "they release" the call.

Before leaving the White House for an event with India's prime minister in Houston, Trump told reporters his conversation with Zelensky "was largely the fact that we don't want our people, like Vice President Biden and his son creating to the [sic] corruption already in the Ukraine."

The president also said he'd have "no problem" with his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, speaking to Congress about Trump's interactions with Ukraine, including Giuliani's reported meetings with top Ukrainian officials to discuss an investigation into Hunter Biden.

MAYBE the person who lodged the Whistleblower Complaint is really just a Trump supporter who knows how this ends up.

I think the whistleblower is a supporter of another Democrat pretender, hoping to damage Trump and Biden in one stroke.

This year Sue Gordon was passed over for the director job at ODNI, and it was announced on Aug 8 that her retirement would be effective a week later on Aug 15. The “whistleblower” complaint was received Aug 12, while she still had employee status but was headed out. She’s CIA and about as deep in the swamp as it gets.

If this thing did indeed emanate from the swamp, it may be a two-birds-with-one-stone ploy: Score a hit on Trump and get Slow Joe the hell out of the way in an acceptably “fair” manner. The swamp denizens have their own internal rules and protocols regarding fair play within the clan.

I would prefer that the above is incorrect and this thing is in fact a Trump setup on Joe and the media, which will be exploited to pry open a big can of worms regarding Ukraine and many other connected targets.

Why would the POTUS have to “hope” anyone releases anything when he can just tell them to release it? He pulls stunts like this all the time and it’s infuriating.

Exactly. Trump tweets as if he is wholly disconnected from the government.

You ahve to think twice. Releasing a phone call of the leader of another country? Not a smart policy.

Remember when Obama spied on Merkel's phone calls and Brazil's phone calls? No one said boo.

That would mean “someone” is talking to the press. My bet is that Comey is involved.

Since when is a call between the President and a foreign leader not classified at the highest level?

The president has the right to use any means to investigate an American citizen he might suspect is involved in a crime.

President Trump is on firm ground.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

so then using this logic, obamma was on firm ground investigating trump?

I’m convinced this is a Trump-originated political story.

Plant the story, watch media go crazy - and again, rise up and take the bait.

They will all look like partisan fools when the story is proven to be fake.

Meanwhile, they are also talking about Biden’s corruption in Ukraine, which the media has scrupulously avoided.

Maybe, but if true, Trump may have jumped the gun. Taking Biden out now is a mistake. He would be perfect to run against.

This is something better saved for the general election campaign.

I think he's rightly calculating that a Biden is the Democrat establishment choice. Biden's failure would spur a free-for-all and the batshit crazy wing of Warren, Sanders, etc... to step up their rhetoric and socialist nonsense. Trump would wipe the floor with either of them.

The reason to take biden out now instead of next year is he is incompetent and abused his power to keep his son out of jail.

Here’s his quote.
“I remember going over (to Ukraine), convincing our team … that we should be providing for loan guarantees. … And I was supposed to announce that there was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. And I had gotten a commitment from (then Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko) and from (then-Prime Minister Arseniy) Yatsenyuk that they would take action against the state prosecutor (Shokin). And they didn’t. ...

“They were walking out to a press conference. I said, nah, ... we’re not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, ‘You have no authority. You’re not the president.’ … I said, call him. I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. ... I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a bitch. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.”

He should also take Harris out for being ineligible but he is gun shy because he peed his pants on Obama’;s eligibility with a british father.

It takes courage to stick to it and do the right thing and not blame politics for holding criminals responsible.

POTUS doesn’t micromanage. He delegates authority and then if he is not happy with results resignations occur. If he’s really unhappy he Boltons the employee.

There is a hierarchy and POTUS plays by the rules. Even with the ridiculously partisan judges that over reach POTUS operates by getting a legal opinion that supersedes them. If he operated as you suggest he should he would need to be emperor.
