Woke History Is Making Big Inroads in America's High Schools
Real Clear Investigations ^ | 9-17-19 | John Murawski

Like growing numbers of public high school students across the country, many California kids are receiving classroom instruction in how race, class, gender, sexuality and citizenship status are tools of oppression, power and privilege. They're taught about colonialism, state violence, racism, intergenerational trauma, heteropatriarchy and the common thread that links them: “whiteness.”

Advocates believe they are within striking distance of making ethnic studies a graduation requirement in high schools across the country, making it a prerequisite for preparing students to navigate the world, much as learning about the Western tradition had once been.

We don’t want students to have the option not to take ethnic studies,” said Melina Abdullah, a professor Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, and a board member of the national Association for Ethnic Studies. “It is as important as taking a lab science.”

Skip

"It comes dangerously close to turning American exceptionalism on its head: Yes, we're exceptional – exceptionally evil,” said Will Swaim, president of the California Policy Center, a free market think tank. "It is remindful of re-education camps in Vietnam or China. It is indoctrination rather than education.”

Skip

“I oftentimes think of ethnic studies as radical social action,” said Julia Jordan-Zachery, a professor and chair of the Department of Africana Studies at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and president of the Association for Ethnic Studies.

Conservative critics said the course content constituted a form of hate speech and fomented racial resentment. The ban was challenged in court. At the trial, then-Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne denounced the class as “extremely anti-American” and “destructive ethnic chauvinism,” alleging it promoted “essentially revolution against the American government, that the borders were artificial, [and] that the bronze continent was for the bronze people.”

Some teachers are willing participants in this commie garbage, but many are not.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

ALL government teachers are **willing** participants! Unlike those running gulags no one is holding a gun to the head of any teacher.

All teachers **willingly** apply for the job.
All willing show up for work each day.
All willing cash in their checks and enjoy their generous vacations, health insurance, and retirement pay.

They HURT children **willingly** for money!

The Federal Government, as such, has no Constitutional role in civilian education; but, as President Trump’s address to the UN, this AM, made very clear, the moral authority of his Administration is solidly behind the belief that patriotism is the most beneficial cultural vehicle for every nation.

Trump needs radical reformation of public schools to be a priority in year 5.

they have families of their own to feed and mortgages,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Amazing isn’t it? MILLIONS of Americans manage to feed their families and pay mortgages without HURTING children.

Government teachers could, too. They willing choose not, too. They willing take money for hurting children.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

They willing take money for hurting children.

Pidgeon English much, Winter?

I assure you that no teacher gets up in the morning thinking, "Goooood....today I can hurt those kids some more. Woo-hoo!"

As usual, you totally miss out on the subtleties. Teachers do a heck of a lot MORE than simply teach a given subject in schools, things that libtards cannot keep them from doing for the kids. They make sure the kids are in a physically safe environment. They are an alert pair of eyes to look out for child abuse. They are a caring shoulder for kids to cry their hearts out on, 'cos their boyfriend left them for another girl or their father humiliates them daily, etc. They expose kids to enrichment such as field trips to museums, things their parents are too busy, too uncaring or too ignorant to do for them. They dream up creative classroom activities. They might even slip a hungry kid the apple from their lunch if they don't have the funds for a meal in the school cafeteria. I've done it--even kept a bowl of apples for hungry kids in my classroom.

It is horrible that teachers are often forced to teach this libtard garbage, but if they themselves are conservative, they will find a way to stick in a good word or two under the radar to counter it. The libtard curriculum may not last for all of the teachers' careers and then they will be able to teach unfettered by ridiculous unwholesome guidelines. So there is some hope for sincere teachers. It's just a shame that the politicians can force their sick views on this captive audience.

In your case, TDS stands for "Teacher Derangement Syndrome". Since you obviously don't know what the heck you are talking about, I suggest you put your broad brush away and shut your monotone piehole.

No one is holding a gun to a teacher’s head. They **willingly** elect to establish and sustain an institution that hurts children. They do it for money.

Remember. Millions of Americans have managed to find work that helps children. Government teachers could, too.

You surely have Teacher Derangement Syndrome. You're a record with a busted needle. Teachers don't help children? Tell that to the abused children I helped escape that abuse. Tell that to the young scientists who got their start under my supervision of their science projects. Tell that to the kids who attended my classes instead of going to lunch because "they wanted to learn something" and their assigned teacher couldn't make that happen. Tell that to the kids I spoke with heart-to-heart while I was minding the detention room as to why they had ended up there and how they might modify how they handled situations in the future. Yeah, my #1 goal was to "hurt children" as you blather.

Teachers hate having the libtard curriculum forced upon them without any teacher input, just the jazz-talking "educational reformers" who managed to get the ear of naive and/or just plain stupid politicians, who then forced the policies down the line to school administrators. Wintertime, as far as I'm concerned, is a synonym for DUH.
