Governor Matt Bevin told city leaders that, if re-elected, he'll fight for them the way he fights for his wife and 9 kids.

Give me a BREAK....he’s in trouble because he’s a CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE!!!
That’s certainly no liability in Kentucky. Making stupid comments like teachers protesting was causing child molestation did damage his personal standing, however - without things like that he’d be a shoo-in. The state’s economy is doing quite well - he has quite a story of accomplishment to tell, overshadowed by those diarrhea of the mouth moments. I still think he’ll make it if the GOP base voters turnout (perhaps helped by the Dems impeachments hysteria at the national level) but it will be much closer than it had to be.
I am so sick of WEAK REPUBLICANS...this is WAR!!!
YOU would have been against US GRANT because he DRANK and CUSSED!! GROW UP!
The teachers and public employees unions hate him here. They are convinced he is determined to steal their pensions. They are fully in favor of the Dem’s kick the can down the road/rob Peter to pay Paul approach. I pointed out to one normally reasonable person I know that he is trying to salvage something for you. Something vs nothing. In the real world those are your choices.
I said to her, your pension promises are mathematically impossible. If nothing is done you may lose it all. I asked her, based on that math reality, what is your solution? I said give the governor an alternative. She couldn’t respond. But I guarantee she will still vote for Breshear because he is claiming that all the pension promises can be honored.
I am so sick of WEAK REPUBLICANS...this is WAR!!!
No you’re not. You will vote for them due to the ‘Hannity Syndrome’ which states a democrap with an ‘R’ is better than a actual Democrap. No it’s not. Time to purge them out and elect people with Balls who swear allegence to the TRUMP PARTY!
So what, she was always going to vote for Breshear.
I don’t think you are correctly interpreting the point based on that response. I am simply pointing out why this race has been more difficult than it should be. It is simply a recognition of the reality on the ground and why we need to work hard to win this race. You incorrectly stated he was having trouble getting re-elected for being a conservative (in Kentucky that is not a liability) and I advised what was really the issue and you say that indicates lacking a spine?
How exactly does that work? Acknowledging reality has zero to do with having or not having a spine.
indeed - and it is all a lie. Bevin is what saved their pensions and got them fully funded after decades of sometimes only a small fraction of funding...but they are in a downward spiral. The teachers and public employee unions have been endorsing and supporting the candidates that literally stole the money and are working to put them back in power. No protests when they were funded at less than half the amount needed - now they get 100% funding and they get the protests going for no other reason than there is a Republican governor.
I’m going to make a blanket generalization. By doing that I acknowledge that there are exceptions; but exceptions are not the rule and do not necessarily invalidate a generalization.
I agree 100% that Matt Bevin is doing his best, against a lot of irrational and dirty opposition, to preserve the public employees’ pensions as best can be done considering the real world math. My generalization? A LOT of teachers are far from being that bright. To put it bluntly, of the entering college freshmen who declare a major, the average SAT scores of those declaring an education major is the lowest of any. That is rather disturbing.
When my daughter entered college in 2000 the average SAT of entering education majors was well below 1,000. That’s pretty bad. Especially considering that prior to that the SAT was “recentered”. A weasel word spoken to me by a wide eyed true believer administrator. IOW the floor was raised - at least twice by that time. And I suspect it has been done again since. My (home schooled, which I know is a distinct advantage) daughter, 3 weeks after her 12th birthday, scored over 200 points higher than those HS students heading off to become “teachers”. After that she said to me that it didn’t seem logical that her scores should be higher than those seniors.
IMO, there should not even be an “education” major. But that is an entirely different subject for discussion.
So, I have very low expectrations of the intellectual and reasoning capabilities (in this matter at least) of public school teachers - in general of course. Which is why such a large percentage of teachers are libs. And so easily duped.
That’s my point. She’s going to vote for Breshear because he says things can magically go on as they have forever.
Bevin is a grinch for acknowledging the public pension system is a disaster of horrible proportions which will crash and burn.
I am so tired of listening to Kentucky teachers throwing fits! They can retire after 20 years with a pension equal to their paycheck. On top of that their health insurance is free. Nearly had a catfight in my lobby between a teacher and the sister of a legislator. These two were friends and the fact that the legislator wanted teachers to pay $100 a month for health insurance was enough to cause the teacher to start ranting at the sister. Sheesh!!!!
