Chinese Troops Massing in Hong Kong For Potential “Total Breakdown in Order”

Largest ever amount of PLA soldiers in Hong Kong.

China has doubled the number of its troops stationed in Hong Kong as one expert warns that the soldiers could be preparing for a “total breakdown in order.”

According to Reuters, Chinese military personnel in Hong Kong doubled last month to 12,000, with many of the reinforcements arriving in late August.

The troop movements were initially claimed to be a routine “rotation,” but were in fact the arrival of thousands of extra soldiers and anti-riot forces (as we reported at the time).

China has now “assembled its largest-ever active force of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops and other anti-riot personnel and equipment in Hong Kong,” according to the report.

According to Alexander Neill, a Singapore-based security analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the build-up is an ominous sign that a crackdown could be around the corner.

“They do seem to have an active contingency plan to deal with something like a total breakdown in order by the Hong Kong police,” said Neill. “I would think it would take something like that or some other worst-case scenario for them to deploy. But they are clearly more ready than before, and are leaving nothing to chance.”

There are expected to be more violent riots in Hong Kong to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Communist China.

The protesters’ main demand, the withdrawal of an extradition bill, was met, but they have vowed to battle on until all five demands are satisfied.

to the contrary... many of today’s college kids are anti-freedom... especially freedom of speech and association.

I guess it’s one way to celebrate a 70th anniversary.

High risks, high stakes for the communists.

Hong Kong is their main conduit for hard currency. They would be in a very different financial situation without Hong Kong as it is today - recognized financially as a “sovereign”, with a freely exchangeable currency.

If Hong Kong loses its political status as Sovereign due to a Communist crackdown, I hope that President Trump accepts tens of thousands of their multi-millionaires as refugees (the Yacht People). That would be a rare opportunity for some World Class human capital (and mountains of actual capital).

There are plenty of places in Asia that would love to take Hong Kong’s place, as financial hub of the region.

China is evidently just fine with that.

What people in the know claim is happening is, the ever-patient CCP has been putting party faithful in place in HK for years and now when they are ready, they have people in control who will do what Bejing says.

There is no doubt that China will win. HK is theirs and withoout doubt the actual truth is that thousands of protesters have already been eliminated, just as the CCP always does. But most westerners fall for the PR they put out and are none the wiser.

They’re going to integrate HK and Shenzhen, which despite it’s growth and tech is nowhere near HK in terms of per capita income.

The scary thing is they are planning to eventually do the same thing with Taiwan.

It could be part of the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Chinese Communist Party take over of China, with a Tiananmen Square redux.

“There is no doubt that China will win.”

They already own Hong Kong, it is just a matter of when the “One Country, Two Systems” is either officially renounced, or no longer recognized by the International community.

It sure seems unlikely that the communists will wait until 2047.

If Hong Kong independence is no longer recognized internationally, the Mainland will have dramatically less access to foreign capital/hard foreign exchange.

It could trigger a fundamental restructuring of the Mainland’s relations with the Global economy.

Seems like things are coming to a head in the coming days, months and year.

When the Red ChiComs invade Hong Kong maybe we’ll all be reminded that we are “Free Trading” with f-—ing COMMUNISTS.

I don’t like the troop build-up. They are not living in a free society. Does not portend well imho.

Prayers for the people yearning to be free.

Too bad we couldn't have an exchange of some sort-bring over the people wanting to live free, and send them our college professor's, and anyone else here, who dreams of living under tyrannical government.

The old money Hong Kong residents were bailing out in the 1980’s. I remember reading an article maybe in the WSJ around 1985 that many of them were settling in Vancouver where the local government had no problem letting them in as permanent residents so long as each family had at least half a million dollars in liquid assets to bring with them. Most of them brought boatloads of gold. That’s a great immigration policy.

They’ll send undercover operatives to start their own violence and “disorder” as an excuse to have another Tienamen
